Guys really?? Can't you exchange email addresses or phone #s?? <_<

Your heat is over, please exit the stand.

D.

Now I'm very clear on the rules of the class. Most people don't think of cosmetic changes to a stock part as a modification. It doesn't improve the performance of the motor To have someone DQed for the color of a part is petty.

I don't have one problem with your other wins at all. You won them strait up. I did enjoy out running those mods with a stock boat though.

I would love to run at the Fall Nats, but will be on vacation with my wife the weekend.

We had a problem with the Brevoort's, Shaw, and the Loeb's. I was not aware anyone else from D-12 was there my apologies.
No problem Jimmy. Once you get to know me, I'm pretty much a big A-hole too. Seriously, we all came down because we like racing with you all. You tunnel guys are all passionate competitors and in the heat of the battle sometimes things get a little haywired. I hope you all can patch things up next time you get together!!

Jimmy,

The head and button were not removed from your engine so there is no way to know if they were stock parts or not, hence the rule. If removing the anodizing was really the only change you made, its very debatable as to if this enhanced the performance of your engine or not.

Leave your B Stock OB engine with stock OB parts, dont touch anything above the cavitation plate, and then you will be like everyone else. I was very fortunate to get Mike's boat that was competitive from the moment I threw it in the water. I was my first B Stock race ever and I was very pleased with the outcome.... ;)

If you want to discuss further, another thread on the subject might work as well. I am sure the moderators will be ok as long as it stays civil......... ;)

I got no dog in this hunt but I really gotta know, Was he given a chance to prove it was NOT a stock part- or simply DQ'd ( if I missed that somewhere sorry) ? I truely cant see where removing anodizing is a performance gain(once again-correct me if Im wrong) . And why did someone wait until what appears to be the better part of the race to call him on it ?

Just asking here guys ?

Andy

I've always found it funny that stock aint stock. The insides on all the Sport-B/"Stock" motors have been modified. Then someone gets pissy over the color of an external part. Like I said earlier petty, petty, petty. They could have said something to me,if it bothered them that much. I had another blue one one a back up motor I would put on. But they waited till after the race to do it. I had been running all weekend long and every other race I run this season, it was too late to hide it. I had nothing to hide by running it. I know better now. Iguess some people get jealous when your boat looks better.

Shaw you gotta PM to late tonight, but any time tomorrow.

Andy,

You can't ask why rules exist, but change them if you dont like them. I know this all too well......

I guess whoever inspected the motor saw no need to remove the head and button as the changes that were very evident must have been grounds enough for a DQ. The rules for B Stock were created to make it very easy to judge if an engine is stock ot not. There are so many pushing the limits on the rules that I believe there should be more protests to make sure everyone is on a level playing field. Kevin filed the protest as soon as he saw the infraction. I guess it took a while for the protest to follow the proper route to form a inspection team, look at the boat, check the rules, and make a call. There were at least one or two heats remaining when it was finally DQ'd. We will never know if removing the button was the only change or if it was even made for this engine as it was not removed and there was no reason to. It was illegal. We need to stop trying to justify why the rules exist, and if there is any competitive advantage for the rule being broken, and simply follow them. No need to beat this dead horse........... ;)

Follow the rules Jimmy. Read my post above for the rest..... ;)

The boat was DQed after the race. There were no heats remaining. I don't know when it was filled. The reason for the protest has nothing to do with the part, the class, or the rules. All parties involved know that.

Like I told you Ron call me.

Sorry to those of you who think this is a waste. This will be my last post to this topic.

Ya all must have been racing for $10,000.00 side bet. im sure no one would have protested that race if you all were just running to have a good time and a lil Trophy

Well, one thing is for sure. This needs to be cleared up and I will state why. I have seen all different combos of head button colors installed especially on the K&B's. SX's come with black but I have seen them run with silver. I have seen the "gold" engines at the races with black and silver buttons. Really, I did not think that the B Sport rules were so tight as to control the color of the coolong jacket. If the rule says to run factory head button does that include the color of the water jacket??? That seems pointless since the inside of a "Sport" engine can be modded to the moon!

Mark,

The head and cooling jacket were silver. OS only makes blue. It was not a stock OS setup. The rules were designed to police the class without having to disassemble the engine. Stock head and cooling, stock carb and muffler, and maximum carb and stinger openings that can be easily measured or checked.

If you were at a race and did not agree with a setup someone was running in the stock class, why didn't you say something?

!!!Can someone move these discussions about stock outboard engines to a separate thread and off of the the Grand Prix Race thread??" This may go on for a while....... ;)
