Hugh, Yes the sponsons are the same. The tube spacing is the same. The tub is 1 1/4" longer for the 90 / 101. Use a 1 3/8" wide ski at 2 degrees. Move the motor back far enough to get 40% of the weight on the ski. CG should be around the center of the turn fin.

The reason for the new tub design is to eliminate lift. Some testing Martin Truex did helped out there. All the new drawings will include the new tub design. Made a big difference in the new 40 boat.

David the sponsons on the 45 twin are sligtly different . You got rid of the sharp point on-like on- the .90 ad replaced it with a rounded nose. The angle of the sponsons on the twin look to add some additional downforce. Whats I meant above is the tub if flat on the bottom all the way down.

Does the twin HAVE to be launced? or will it get up from a standstil for (FE) ?
Do you ever have to launch an electric?

I can only speak for myself on the smaller JAE electric hydros & i certainly dont have to launch them. They will go away from a standing start at full throttle applied (or less as well ), its like turning a light switch on instant power with so much torque.

Preparing drawing in Autodesk Inventor For Rigger 8S2P....

Waiting for opinions...Everything under water line wasn´t changed, above made some slight modifications...

Best Regards

Looks Good, how tall is the tub and length?

I an running the same set up in a self designed Carbon tub inspired by the JAE and the tub volume looks a little too small.

Hello Jim

Concerning Tub lenght, it is the same of the JAE 45 twin...38 inch.....

Tub in the tallest point has 2.8 inch to acommodate the lipo batteries..in this case the 6S go in the tallest part of the Tub, and the 2S, (to make 8S) go in the fronter less taller!

Hello Hugh

Like i said, changed the tub in order to accomodate lipos... need room for 2 6S gens ace 5300mah side by side...

Best Regards

Don´t understand the meaning of shelled out...Can you change that ,for words that i understand..i´m good in "Technical English", but not teacher... :)

I would raise the height of the tub in the front battery bay to fit the 6s also. That will also increase the angle down to the nose to help with blow offs on the wider tub bottom and give you more options for moving batterys to get the right CG.

Interesting mods. It should be interesting to see how it performs. I will be looking for a battery form factor that will work within the "stock" hull. I plan to buid the boats to planned specs.

Ok the prather is pretty much out of the way so I can start really giving this some attention. I printed the new plans in tile print(regular paper) then pieced it together. kind of a headache but worth saving 15 dollars. David am are my eyes fooling me? Still looks like the sponsons nose is different on the twin.I got some 7/16 od brass for the booms . Now Ill have to order the carbon rod. The tub is in the jig mocked up. I have to cut the belly and deck pieces out. I also need to order struts. i may go with the z strut from zipkits. Is there a better strut for it?

How far do you guys let the brass boom anchors out past the sides of the tub?

Hugh if you are building the twin tub you need to build the twin sponsons. There are differences between the old 90 drawings and the new drawings. The original 90/101 (old) drawing on the sponsons has some lift designed in that should have not been there. Also the new tub has some lift removed. You will be much happier if you build the new drawing. Also if you are using 3/8 solid rods for your boom tubes I think the 7/16 K&S is one size too big. You want 3/8" ID K&S. Also I sand the brass flush on the tub and use 3/8 aluminum lock collars.
