Hi Tim,

What's the story about not publishing people's name on the AMPBA forum who have entered this event??interesting to know who the competitors all are, especially the the 8 scalies. I just think it would be better to let people know that their entry was received because as a race scretary I've had a few go walkabout, and it's better to know before the event than on the day trying to reschedule heats as most secretaries don't bank the cheques straight away so personally you wouldn't know for sure if it has been received. I'm not having a dig at you just giving some imput to what I see and hear. I'm very disappointed I can't make this one, you better make sure you all have a Jim Beam for me on the Saturday night :) :)

Regards,

Bucky
Hi Bucky,

I know what you are saying about posting that info, but some people have asked that their names not be listed on forums (reason not given) and I think we have a duty to respect that. (I can't say for sure but this might be why Craig K didn't list entrants for the Country Champs this year either, you would have to ask him.) I'm not the Race Secretary so I don't have the names. The ONLY person who has that position and info is Andrew Young.

If there are any entries that have gone missing in the post - we will be able to address it 1st thing so that no-one is dissapointed. The 2 classes that got insufficient entries are not going to change due to this. Fortunately our race management program allows us to re-shuffle heats very quickly, whole process only takes a few minutes. As for banking cheques - if we didn't get an entry form we didn't get a cheque to bank - so no problem. They can give us some $$$ on the day. The postage stamp to return one that shows up months later only costs 50c.

Andrew has done the entries and running sheets more times than just about anyone in this country, and I've done a few myself, so I'm confident these things will be resolved should they arise.

If that is all we have to worry about, and if that's the only thing that negative people are saying about the WS, then it should be a great event. Shame we could only have it over 2 days and not a long weekend! We sure have the numbers for a 3 day'er.

Don't worry mate - I'll definately have a JB or two at the Saturday Night BBQ for you. Shame you can't be here to help us empty a few.

Cheers,

Tim.

Tim,

No negative comments about WS!!! I know CK did the same and I must admit I'll have to catch up with him and ask why. I also had some competitors that didn't want there entry posted and that was respected, but at the end of the day these are just a hobby with a great bunch of guys catching up for a ale or two. Just to let you guys also know BotB 2007 is a three day event on a non holiday weekend so it will be interesting to see how the numbers fare when it comes around. This might be a option for the Sydney club to consider also. It's great to see the competitor numbers still around the fifty mark to all events lately :) :)

Your big tunnel would be eligible for Open Petrol Hydro at the W/S Greg, but entries have already closed ;)

Hows this for an idea guys - a sanctioned "Tunnel Hull's only" race meet. Inboards, Outboards. Electric, Petrol and Nitro classes. Oval and Offshore. Think about it - you could get heaps or rounds in + practice over two days. It would even up the ledger from the W/S not having tunnel classes, so then they could both be included in the national points championship. It's not discriminating against a particular power source either. There could even be an "open class" where the different power types can compete against each other.

What do you guys think? Is there enough interest? Any club prepared to host it? Will the AMPBA approve a sanction?

Sounds very interesting Tim,

With the sanctioning I would imagine it would be granted as long as it fell into the 30 day guideline. You guys are having a race meet in December again so that fills in this year with a race meet every month from now on in to Xmas. We have a club day next weekend so I could raise the question if you all feel their would be enough interest.

Bucky

Hey Bucky - your venue would be awesome for a tunnel event! Awesome tunnel water almost all of the time!

I posed the question about clubs 'cos I don't want it to appear like we're trying to hog the calendar. I'd like to think one of the clubs that hasn't put in for an event or had to cancel one would get the first preference. I've seen first hand the difference it makes to a club knowing a sanctioned event at their home water is on the horizon.

December was not my doing by the way - knew nothing of it until last week. I was very surprised to see that no-one else had taken that month though half way into the year.

Tim.

Tim that's why we have put in our sanction for feb next at the Nationals when the new AMPBA committee was formed. Has Sydney discussed next years dates yet, as we could then work around all the other race meets as they are all don't usually move from where they are now. Looking at the other clubs who do you would be interested in holding this tunell event?

Just wondering if any club would like to host a round at our lake in the middle of town (Western Victoria).

We currently have jetski racing as it brings the Adelaide guys closer to the melbourne guys.

i am sure i could get permision to race here as i know the person in charge quite well.

Just another ideal venue for every one to meet at.

I canot upload pics of the venue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jason,

Get registered with the new AMPBA website photo gallery and post them there or just email them to me and I'll do the rest. Would you be able to organize scaffold for a drivers stand?

Regards,

Bucky

Just a thought, but wouldn't an AMPBA affiliated club have to host it at that pond to get the sanction approval?
