Over the years racers have asked us if we could get some changes made to the way US-1 classes were in the rule book. After the board meeting last night I am proud to announce all three of your requests have now been approved by the board and approved for this year’s Inter Nats.
Sport Tunnel will run as a US-1 class
S-20 will run as a US-1 class.
A hydro will run as its own US-1 class.
In years past these classes were run as specialty classes on Saturday. You are making history, as this will be the first Inter Nats to offer these classes as US-1. In order to be US-1 classes there needs to be 8 boats presented at the beginning of each event, SAW, 2 lap and heat racing. This is in accordance with page E-3 III, B1, b of the rule book. As of today we are short in the Sport Tunnel and A hydro classes. In 2019 we had 8 A hydro’s and even more Sport Tunnels so it shouldn’t be an issue to fill these classes..
Another request that we will put into place: In the past SAW and two lap running order was done alphabetically. Mr. A always had to run first and Mr. Z ran last. This year you will draw a number from a hat at the drivers meeting and that will determine your running order. With some luck you will have cool weather and smooth water all day and it won’t matter when you’re up.
I get some crazy question… and lately it seems some guys think they are going to use different hulls for the three events, NOT so. When you check in we will take pictures of your boats. That same boat must be used for all three events.
