You take 50% of your heat racing score
and 25% of your straightaway and 25% of your oval score
highest total for each class is US-1
Bob not quite correct they use percentages to calculate the Excellence in performance trophy.
US1 is given points in saw and oval 1st 400 2nd 300 and on down
Heat racing is given 400 for top points earned in the rounds 300 for second, on down the list.
heat racing awarded points are doubled 400 = 800 300 = 600 on down.
This makes heat racing more valuable to figure the Excellence in performance trophy scores.

SO Rick you dont have to make all 400 point finishes in saw and oval and heats. Finishing first in heat racing is more valuable

You can get US1 with a 2nd or 3rd heat racing, depends how and who does what in the saw and oval.
 
Semantics, it still comes out the same !

Ok, are you awarded points as in heat racing?
Fastest boat/driver in staightaway gets 400
Second fastest 300
And so on?
yes but in heat racing if you get 2000 pts for 5 first place 5x400, but you carry 400x2 800 points to the Us1 scoring, saw 400 for first, oval 400 for first.
Dont ask how excellence performance is figured out,HA

EOP is the total of your combined points for SAW, Oval & Heat Racing proportioned against all other classes. The largest participated class ends up being the "control" or 100% of accumulated points.
If D hydro is the largest class at 28 boats which compete. That D hydro US1 champion has 800 for heat racing 127 for SAW and 169 for oval to equal 1096pts US1 points. being the largest participated class DHydro EOP points is 1069.

Every other class gets their number of boats that competed divided by 28 to have arrive at an EOP %.

Example: E hydro has 21 boats. 21/28 = .75
E hydro US 1 winner has 800 for heat racing, 400 for oval, and 300 for SAW = 1500pts x .75 =1125 EOP points. This procedure gets applied to every US1 eligible class. The highest point total after the "control" is applied is the EOP Winner.

Note: the rule book states every US1 class must have a minimum of 8 boats that compete in each event of SAW, OVAL and Heat Racing. If 8 boats were to start SAW and one were to get destroyed and only seven competed in Oval, this class would no longer meet the requirements for awarding a US1.

Might I ask what happened to the area in the rule book saying top 6 or 20% which ever is greater in each class run for US-1???
 
Ok, PG E-5 paragraph 3 is where it's found.
But call me confused?!?!
How does this apply when the straight away trophy trials start on June 5th & 6th
Oval trophy trials are 6th & 7th
And heat racing starts on the 8th
 
We are running the program that has Straight away trophy trials, Oval trophy trials, and then Heat racing. Some people think that this is the long program but it is not. If you only want to run the trophies trials you can come in the first part of the week and run those. If you just want to run for National Champion you may come in the middle of the week for the Heat racing. So this type of event breaks it in half. But for US 1 you must run all events or at least enter them.

The program for the top 5 or 20% forces everyone to be there for the whole week. With the final boats doing trophy trials at the end of the event.
