Take notice of all cars parked around the lake and business in the area. we will have food vendors, but there is also Cheeseburger in Paradise, Cracker Barrel, Texas Roadhouse, Bar Louie, for breakfast, lunch and afterhours.

We will have a 5 buoy per turn course, and have lots of water for you wide lane slingers, as well as a rigid structure in the lake with sub-bouys that yields a perfect course for the buoy huggers. We will be using a softer styrofoam buoy for the nats, so bring out your ultra-light weight riggers!
Amen on the eats, Texas Road House Never runs out of Cheese Fries & Cold Beer for the after race parties.......Even got USDA Pork Chops for Pete???

5 buoy turns????

5 buoys instead of just three. Should make corners a little smoother. Keep guys from diamonding the turn and force more of an arc. I really like this idea

I have never raced on a 5 buoy corner at an IMPBA event however I have in NAMBA.

Maybe it would have made more sense to do this at a club level first. That way those whom have never raced a 5 buoy course might have a clue what its like.. This when…. going to the IMPBA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Sounds trivial to some but its not to others!

We all know the Reason!

And.. Likely the most important question is..

Will a 5 buoy setup REALLY make the national championships allot better? Its a large and significant change to the IMPBAs annual event!

Just food for thought.

I know what it means, why are we changing??
I tell you from first hand experience it really cleans up the driving in the turns. Biggest plus is it cuts out people squaring off the corners, gotta run a real turn! We switched to it 3 years ago in D12 and even the most skeptical when we did it wouldn't go back to 3 buoy corners. Our clubs cut their buoy costs by 2/3rds since the switch and that's NO exaggeration whatsoever. The 5 buoy corner is in the IMPBA rule book so it's perfectly legit at the Nats. B)

Can, We get a list of the States that are Represented? Don`t forget to invite the Boaters from Texas. We would love for them to attend the race..

What's the real reason Grim? Hopefully someone with more experience within the club will enlighten everyone, but it has been discussed in club meetings since the beginning of the year. We have had some really rough weather and other issues out of the club's control to properly integrate it into our format of racing. I think it will work either way and I for one can't see it bearing that big a difference for a seasoned professional racer anyways. Change is good guys, keeps us on our toes and alert.

I like the 5 buoy corners. It has been used at the World Tunnels for 2-3 years.
Guys we have open water all day Tuesday even if you show up Monday I will be out there. If its a big deal after open water we will revisit it. BUT id be surprised if anyone has concerns with it. Everyone knows we try to please everyone and will continue to do so....

ABSOLUTELY correct! It makes the turn into an arc instead of a triangle. We ahve used it with all CMB races the past 2.5 years. The 2008 Fall Nats we went through 27 round tubular style buoys. In 2009 we went through 3 at the same race. MAJOR difference in reduction of buoy hits and cuts. We will continue to use the 5 buoy system. Less chance in getting squeezed off in a corner as well.

Grim - If you had attended the past 2 WTC races you would have had the introduction to them. I know you have been busy but many clubs has gone to them.

We are doing more bouys, so less get hit. I went to celina CANAM race last year and with 5 bouys I don't remember any being hit. Less strikes = less down time and less torn up boats.

We will also use a softer buoy than we have the past 2 years so less boats get torn up.

no "real" reason.. again..just food for thought. I DID NOT TAKE SIDES!.. is that what you were thinking?

I have raced both so I "personalty" don't care.. just thinking of everybody... maybe that's the reason.

Im sure we will rock the pond ether way..

Looking forward to it!

Yea I think I was at a race and they thought they had to renumber all the bouys out there. Just confusing. Just call it as 123 and 456 as always and dont give the filler bouys a number
