2005 Atlanta Spring Nats “TWIN HYDRO SHOOTOUT” (Specialty Class)

You asked for it... So here it is...

FORMAT:

- 6 boat minimum for the class to make

- 4 rounds normal heat racing

- At the end of 4 rounds the top 6 point earners will move into a winner take all “Shootout”

- 1 winner - 1 trophy - All the bragging rights

Unfortunately it is too late to have this class added to our race flyer scheduled to appear in the December issue of Roostertail. If you would like to enter the Shootout simply write TWIN SHOOTOUT on the bottom of the registration form along with your primary and alternate frequency. Entry fee for the class will be the same as all others. If it is your first boat the entry fee is $15, otherwise $12.

As “Big Chuck” says: “We want all of the Twin Hydro Pilots to plan to bring their low flying licenses to this race so that the FIRST ever Twin hydro National Champion can be crowned.”

Depending upon the response we may incorpoate this class into the format for future Spring Nats in Atlanta. Please help spread the word...

Later,

Lamar

I will be there, and I am sure the clan I race around with will be there also. Plan on starting Open water on Thursday. Say hello to Norman, maybe he can build a TWIN GASSER to come "cacle" with us. Maybe he can name it, "2 Much Gas".

Hey Gang,

Glad to see that the SHOOTOUT idea is being well received.

Joe W

Provided that our sanction goes through (and I see no reason that it shouldn't) the dates for the 2005 Spring Nats in Atlanta will be:

APRIL 23rd & 24th 2005

Norman Morton will be the CD for the race and the registration flyer "should" appear in the December 2004 issue of Roostertail (I have my fingers crossed).

----------------------------------------------

Jose,

Glad to hear that you will make the race. I'll tell Norman you said hello. Would a Zenoah powered rigger w/ a Cox .049 bolted to the top qualify as a Twin? Just kidding...

Hope to see you all in Atlanta this Spring. I know that I do not know most of you, but I do look forward to putting faces w/ names. Look me up when you get there.

Lamar-

After talking to John (Finch) tonight the likelyhood of us coming down has increased significantly. We will inquire about putting in for the time off at next monthly meeting so they have plenty of notice. If all goes as planned you definitely count me in on the twin shootout, sounds like this is gonna ROCK! B)

Don,

Outstanding!!! This is shaping up to be quite a field already. We do not have time to change the flyer going out in the December Roostertail, but I am going to amend the flyer that we post on the AMB website as well as the District XXIII website. I will post a link as soon as the revised flyer is available.

This sounds like its gonna be one of those races you gotta be there to see!!! How many scale guys usually show up down there. I have family in the area and might just bring my scale to test my luck.

:p Agreed This is most likely gonna be a have to go see event. Sure hope they post a entry list just so we can see who's gonna be there. ;)

Jeff the point last weekend was to give them all a little buzzzzzzzz Just before the start of the race. A few times I walked up on the drivers stand too & just about passed out from the Odonnell Nitro... Most every heat it took 4 laps just for the drivers stand to clear out.

bsmtboy2,

I am not quite sure what the typical turn out for the Scale class is. I can ask around and find out. The 2004 Spring Nats was my first one in about 13 years so I am not really "up" on the stats...

Don,

Yes, the race will be held at the Naturally Fresh Dairy (the salad dressing people) pond. Dirctions can be found HERE All the info. on the site is from 2004. We are in the process of updating the site and adding the 2005 flyer.

---------------------------------------------

Cleatus,

I will try to work with the person taking entries and keep you guys posted on who is entering the SHOOTOUT. If it all works out it should be a great show...

What's slald dressing??? LOL!! Just kidding! Thanks for the info! B)

Speaking of twins. Anyone have any thoughts about re-classing E-Hydro as single engine 8cc and above and reinstating F-Hydro as multi engine like it was in the beginning?

Rich If you think twins need a class why mess with E for 11cc and F for the larger engines, Im sure alot of E hydro guys will want to race F hydros all the time.

Was not the F class only twins because there were not any motors sold bigger than a 60 back in the beginning? You are showing your age LOL.

Getting back to the Atlanta race- since I've not been to this pond, how close can you get trailers to the water & will overnight security be provided so trailers & tents can be left on site??

Don, If you get there early enough, you can get a trailer 20 feet from the water. The most you will be is 120-160 feet. There is no overnight security, but we allways have people that bring campers. I don think you will have to worry about anything. :)
