Don,

The parking is tight when a lot of people show up here....and they usually do. Get there early! Most of the waterfront is taken by Friday and the tents are about 3 or 4 deep from the water by Sat. But this race is non stop action and a lot of fun. Pond is sheltered so there has to be a hurricane to make it rough. Come on down!

Getting back to the Atlanta race- since I've not been to this pond, how close can you get trailers to the water & will overnight security be provided so trailers & tents can be left on site??

Don, If you get there early enough, you can get a trailer 20 feet from the water. The most you will be is 120-160 feet. There is no overnight security, but we allways have people that bring campers. I don think you will have to worry about anything. :)

Hmmm, well ok. Has anyone ever considered a night security guard? I know they do it at the ODMBA Invitational & from what I remember hearing it doesn't cost that much either....... just a thought. :D

Guys,

With the addition of a twin hydro class to the race, I truly hope that no more tinkering of the classes will be done. Please leave E hydro and F hydro classes alone. I run both of them, with the F being a single engine. Leave the F class to the single engines and encourage the twins to the new class. I know that there are several racers that have both single and twins. Don Ferrette, Harry G, Joe W and Frank Sechrest are some off the top of my head if I recall correctly. And there are set classes for the District 13 high point series and twins are currently not one. F hydro is with no distinction of # of engines.

Phil'Yep I'm showing my age!  Why not have a class just for twins???????

Yes it would make it more interesting to watch all twins racing, Maybe more people would build one too. There are some clubs that do race twin only class now.

That is correct & I will be bringing both. :D

No more tinkering w/ the 2005 Spring Nats... The TWIN HYDRO SHOOTOUT is an additional Specialty class.

The only other revision will be changing E/F Tunnel to OPEN Tunnel.

The SGRA ran a twin class at the hydro invitational. Very exciting!

Jeff the point last weekend was to give them all a little buzzzzzzzz Just before the start of the race. A few times I walked up on the drivers stand too & just about passed out from the Odonnell Nitro... Most every heat it took 4 laps just for the drivers stand to clear out.

Joe is right about the smoke from the Odonnell Fuel because he was the one that was smoking everyone out. My throat still hurts but that's what it is all about.

I am sure that Doc and myself will be there so that makes two more. I can think of about 8 to 10 Twins that will maybe be there. Looks like I need to go to the shop and start working on the 2005 Model SST Twins. It going to be a big year for twins.

You should consider the following, and maybe clarify if needed. If the race is in accordance with IMPBA rules, then a Twin rigger is a legal F Hydro as long as the IMPBA max engine dispalcement is not exceeded. Therefore the same boat can race in F Hydro and Twin Hydro. If the intent is different then please clarify. This issue was a problem in another race that I attended. I can provide details if needed.

Agreed. While I plan to bring both the single & twin, if the twin's rockin' the single might not make it out of the trailer. Besides, what's another gallon or two of nitro anyway.... :p

ATLANTA'S GONNA BE ROCKIN' IN APRIL!! :D  :p B)

The intent is too add an additional class, not to replace or alter the F Hydro class in any way. If you want to run the same boat in both classes then by all means please do so. I am sure the fuel manufacturers would appreciate it!

If you plan on running the same boat in both classes I would suggest adding a little note with your entry form stating that you are doing so and to please keep you on the same frequency in both classes if at all possible.

We run into this same issue with our gas monos. We can run LSG 23-30 and Open LSG w/ the same boat. I always include a little note w/ my entry form. Most of the time I get lucky and get the same frequency in both classes. If not, I have the option of changing crystals in between heats or scratching one class. I personally do not like changing crystals between heats so I will just scratch one or the other. Just a personal preference.

Hope this all makes sense.

Lamar,

With that in mind, would suggest that the heats for the F hydro and the twin hydro classes be at least 4 or 5 heats apart. If a racer wants to run a twin in both classes, they would need adequate turn around time to service the boat before the next heat. If they are bunched together then the running of both classes would be adversely impacted. And being apart it will bring a better show for all of us attending. Throw some gas, scale, tunnel or offshore classes in between them.

I agree but can I please ask don't use scale as a buffer as I'm going to bring one of my scale boats as well. Don't want to wind up back to back to back...

Good point. Drop the scale and put in the crackerbox class. Lamar, you will have some fun next April!

Hey Gang,

I will definately ask Norman and his wife (Wendy) to break the heats up in such a manner that the F Hydro and Twin Shootout heats will not be back to back.

The last race I went to I was in back to back to back heats. No FUN @ all...

I wanna make you hustle, but that is a little too much to ask! :D
