Just got back from local pond, saw a nice little 20 boat that is said to be very very light kicking some butt. its yellow and named after a cat that lives in the mountains. watch out Tom F.and Bret E. This thing has CLAWS Video to come next week?
Ya know, I hate to be a sceptic but was there a radar gun? Can anyone show proof of 80 plus in heat race trim putting a spank'n on 6 other boats? Just what does "20 boat pushing 80 plus" mean? Did the boat run 75 and "push" for 80, did it run 83 and show promise for 85? I just got home from a race where 65mph in 20 hydro would have put you in the front of the class, 70mph in .40 would be smokin, and 75mph in open hyrdo (including a twin) would have set top speed for the weekend. Can anyone lend me a radar gun for the Hobart race to check out the top speeds for the weekend? I'd be glad to post the actual results. I've got a 75mph .20 boat and a .45 that runs within a mile an hour or two and wins me a ton of races. I hate to quote the "first you have to finish to finish first" but it definately helps to be able to park your boat at the end of a heat. Just say'n...

I will bring the gun Ron.............

And I'll post the results. See you in a couple of weeks.

Ron

Sorry that your pond has such slow boats

Sorry Ron, I thought I was on the "Bench Racing Forum" I guess we need to move this over there.

Since we are really on the Outrigger Forum, I must admit that the boat was only going 54mph and it just looked fast on the small pond.

Wow I was hoping this did not turn into a "poop on someone's parade" deal..

I don't care how the thing was measured, if they say it was running 80, it was running 80, no sense in being negative. ;)

I guess you had to be there

Bring it to Charleston, I'll bring "Judge Judy" .... the Stalker Pro radar gun. Would love to see another 80mph heat race 20, so far to date I've only seen one ...... and I've seen plenty of rather fast 20's. ;)

Great video of ? MTruex doin 82 on the oval at top speed in the trap.

Great performance there, haven't been at that speed yet on a .21

Hard to heat race though, I'm sure, with the set-up.

Still very impressive, a mark to set your .21 rigger to.

Couple of great runnin boats in the videos but we are talking during a race here , whole different ball game

Not sayin that it can't be done , or hasn't been done just hav'nt seen it .

I must correct myself if my memory is correct Mr Bill McGraw ran 82mph at the Spring Nats in 1994 ?

I'll never forget watching his boat.

Bill held the IMPBA SAW record @ 75 mph in 1994. Don't know how he'd manage to run 82 mph at a boat race the same year. Not to take anything from Bill. He had many great accomplishments.

Will this "cat with claws" be at Hobart??? :D

Don :)
Don:

Not this year, economy to bad for people in the Real Estate Business.
If you are waiting for the Real Estate market to get better before you you travel to race ....you won't be able to travel for the next 5 to 10 years....

This mess we are in is not going to be a short term deal........Rod

Rod:

I just have to find a Niche that is doing appraisals for BANKRUPTCY, SHORT SALES and FORECLOSURE. Seems that this should be a hot market for me!!!

Actually, that is about 60% of what I am doing now. SAD.....

Tim I held Bills radar gun on that same Boat Many Many times @ 82 & 84 mph. Just a little ripple on the water would knock off 3 mph. It would run 84mph on Smooth water. if it was coming towards a large area of a little ripple you would see if fall off 2-3 mph. It did not take much to unhook a little boat. Frank Orlic engine every time. Bill studied the Sleeve on a V block with a dial indicator stationary to the V Block intensely. 3 1/2 lb boat Ralph personally built for Bill`s specs. Many times he would enhance the engine timing numbers by machining the piston height down & Longer rods. Some of the fastest engines were long stoke engines with the Older N/R Big Bore SS P/Liners. They would ROCK........ To tell you how good the Boat Was... a BONE Stk Out of the Box SS N/R engine would run 68 mph in the same boat.

Andy

Could have been 1995 can't really remember but you were there as well , I remember you coming up to me after my 40 hydro heat to tell me that I had one of the best runnin first gen Eagles you had seen , made me feel pretty good .

I also remeber Mr Bill runnin way out in lane ??? and lapping everyone with ease , maybe Frank could chime in if I am wrong on the speed but I don't think so.

Everyone at the race would stop what they were doing to watch Mr Bill run B) .
