I don't know Joe, you with a Zoom carb on your Picco's. That would make you too fast and give you an unfair advantage over the other guys.I may have to make you one with a RESTRICTOR PLATE.

No problem Buck. The 45 Zoom is still for sale.

OK guys, now that the water has softened up and most should have had a chance to run their Zoom carbs, I would like to hear what you think about the carbs and their performance.

I would like to hear the GOOD, the BAD or the UGLY.

After this is done I will post some of the things that we have found.

Thanks, Charles

I have been running the Zoom 21 on my CMB LS, it most definitely woke the engine up as it runs faster than I have seen it run before (no numbers yet).

Very easy to start.

The only thing that happened to me was the 2 screws holding the needle assembly backed out, put some blue loctite on the threads and that solved the problem.

One question I do have concerning idling - should I be able to let the engine idle?

at this time I still have to keep it clear by bleeping the throttle.

Thanks Charles.

Dan.

Come on guys, I have sold more than 1 or 2 carbs. I really need your feed back to see what I am doing right or what I am doing wrong. We are working on the next years model now and I need to know what the boaters that have them think and their feedback. Don't be bashful, speak up.

Charles

charles.

i havn't ran one yet but i no on my own boat the banjo fitting won't clear the cowl.. is there a way to move it closer to the center of the motor?

i know a minor thing.. just don't want to make another cowl mold.

I am one of the boaters that don't have one. I would like to have some for the CMB 91Hr (bolt on) and some for the CMB 101 RS. B)

I've now had a chance to run mine a little on my 67 and 80 motors. I did find they need about as much opening as the MAC carbs to keep them running on the beach (no big deal to me) but on the pond they work quite well. Throttle transition is real smooth throughout and top end is very strong. I plan on more extensive testing on the scale .... if it'll ever stop frikkin' raining!!!

Charles:

I have not tried mine yet due to lenght of the carb (hits rear boom tube). I will try it in my new boat when it is finished. Sorry I do not have any feedback for you yet. I wonder if an angled adapter would work?

Rick and Chris, one of the things that I have found (this showed very clearly when I used smoke and flourescent dye with a black light on the flow bench) is that the carb at wide open throttle draws air from up to 1 1/2 inches away from the front and sides of the carb bell. I know that concessions has to be made in that there is only so much room around the carb. Just give it as much room as you can for the best performance.

Rick, I haven't tried the angled adapter yet.

Don,

You will like the Zoom even more in your scale than in the riggers! It will idle to a crawl & respond to full throttle)instantly with the same smooth transition and top end as in a rigger. CAN YOU TELL I LOVE ALL OF MINE? :p (21--80)

Don :)

Jon Thibodeau bought some for me - the seller would only ship within USA - named AF2 Alum 90 Deg Pressure Fitting 10/32. Only half the hight compared to the banjo fitting.

I belive they came from late Ron Paris.
