Mike, the issues I see off the top of my head are-

1) I see your point combining some nitro and f/e classes - but how do you deal with the issue of milling ?

2) #10 open rigger would be better served as 2 classes imho- gas riggers and nitro/ fe riggers have no business on the lake at the same time.

3) #15 Mod Vp (thanks for thinking of us btw ;) ) would be an easy class to roll right in with #2 and open a spot for my 2nd suggestion.

4) It may be my opinion only and thats fine-#6 will be a class I never run. Just saying- open nitro YES . The 60 and up nitro monos are a pretty level field and that easily combines two classes or offers two depending on how you look at it.

5) #3 Open Tunnel - Once again -see my #2

These are just my feelings on what was tossed out here, they may or may not mean much, but you asked.

I for one would love to see everyone work together to take advantage of the potential in our back yards, thats the reason for my thread, period.

No problem, I just wanted to throw out there what has been discussed by the participating clubs, I am sure like you said that these may need to be tweaked, but it is a change that must be considered. Keep in mind these classes were compiled with the input from a lot of people, other club leaders, racers in this area from nitro, electric and gas. This is what we thought the racers wanted, if not then by all means everyone should let their opinions be known, after all is said and done all everyone wants is to race boats and have races. But keeping the class structure the way it has been for many years doesn't benefit the other types of boaters that are coming into this sport (electric) as they have been left out far too long.

I agree , and open discussions is whats needed to get it back on track. Lets here what everyone wants and offer it- it they dont take it from there - we re-adjust, simple. As far as the F/E guys,IMHO there seems to be a pretty decent interest in the tunnel side of it so far here in our area, the other clubs south of us need to be at least invited , but I dont think they have the capability nor the permission to have nitro or gas boats run at their clubs. I have tried to span that gap- those guys coming up here to run with little success.

1). Electric can mill like any other power plant.

2) from input received by all asked, consensus was the speed differences were not so different as to cause concern.

3) mod vp boats can be combined into this class if preferred, but most said they would like it separate.

4). This has always been an open class in WCRA, no change.

5) open minded on this, whatever the masses may want, but WCRA has always been mostly open classes.

Overall, in reality, only the electric has been added to the nitro classes based on the speeds they run, it is impossible to have a 1 day race with too many classes and not have those classes offered even get 3 boats, this is designed to solve this.

OK -

1) f/e may be able to mill like any other powerplant- but thats NOT the way they do it.

2) The speed is not the issue - its the hull size between a gas rigger and a nitro rigger-

lets just consider a 20 rigger and a gas single for a moment - really ?

3) ModVp has rounded the curve as far as speed is concerned- Im pretty sure(just me) but we wouldnt have a problem running with A Stock

4) Lets hear what the masses that will attend say- I for one would rather see a separate nitro/gas open mono class . Just my 02.

Im not going to race my nitro boats with electrics. Its like comparing apples to oranges. I like I/C engines and noise! Just my 2 cents worth. Either way it is a bunch of classes to run in one day.

From a financial standpoint, 1 day races would be all i could really afford....some of the best times i ever had runnin boats was at the WCRA 1 day races...racin Sport 20 hydro with the 'POND PIRATES", and RTRs...too bad those classes appear to be dead...... i do hope the 1 day races will come back!

That is why we should get it back going again, finances are tight for alot of people and this is a great way to at least get out and enjoy racing and your friends.

Like Jeff said, lot's of classes for a 1 day race...either way the WCRA has always run limited classes. Now we just need to figure out what the Nitro guy's would call the "most popular, must have classes" and make it happen.

All input is appreciated here.

Do a "Mock Entry " and see who enters what from the district ? I would be in for :

GX1 Rigger

GX1 Sport hydro

Open Nitro Mono

Open Nitro hydro

and A Hydro if enough entered to make a class ( Bill , Marty ) as they are too small to run with the big stuff

Cost to run a 2 day VS driving to and from for a 1 day race is 60 - 80 bucks (Less Fuel for boats )

Tom has a good idea or if you can pull up what was run before and see what made a class then after that maybe have a mock sign up Robert

Quality discussion gentlemen , trimming the fat and leaving the nitro racers options is the key IMHO .

I agree with Tom- let the masses decide, that said, there are some classes in that mile long list that cloud go/be combined or flat out dropped.

Just food for thought-

A / B Nitro Hydro

Open Nitro Hyrdo after that- Gas open Hydro - F/E Open Hydro .

Combine A Stock Tunnel/Modvp and poss A MOD .

At this time dump sp20/sp40 and Open elect- until they can prove there are viable classes again.( I have a sp 40 btw)

Make a specific open nitro mono and open gas mono class.

Consider a B-Tunnel only class- mod and stock combined- who is really running a true stock motor in B stock

And here i wanted to run my sport40 against you bummer , also if the small monos dont run you can have like a open mono or open mono offshore Robert

more food for thought -

A / Open Tunnel - a stock/mod/ mod vp

A/B Hydro

B stock/mod tunnel combined

A/B Mono combined

Open nitro mono- 60 and up

Open Nitro Rigger -60 and up-single only

Twin gas rigger

Twin Nitro rigger

T-BOAT

GX1 SP Hydro

Open Cat

Open Offshore/ or open nitro f/e and open gas and then a shootout final round ?

Jskiff

1/8th Scale Nitro

Super Boat

GX1 Rigger

14/15 reasonable classes that fill everyones needs?

It will be the entries in those classes that can make them happen Robert and be added- its just a loose proposal .

Lets see where we go .

We have the two outboards so no problem here just giving you a hard time  Robert

Combining classes for a one day event to draw racers and give different challenges is not a bad Idea. Tunnels could be condensed to 2 classes. A-21 stock/mod/Mod-Vp/Spec FE. B-45 stock/mod/gas/FE . Open cat and mono and offshore worked in the WCRA just keep it single engine and open to FE power also. Twin class could include gas & nitro and open to FE also. Remember we all are giving up something here in combining classes. Maybe someone can suggest how hydros can be condensed. Having a one day format with fewer classes and something for everone with a little give and take could be a fun afternoon. Makes a run what you brung, king of the hill event. And that could be a class also.

Thanks for the input Mic, I'm glad someone finally got the idea of this...the open classes are pretty much set as far as gas/nitro/FE. The only real discussion is with how the nitro/FE classses will be structured, once again most of this was discussed at great length last year with the interested parties in FE and Nitro...so all I was trying to do was tweak it a little. If we try to re-invent it at this point...we won't be racing until 2014.

It's all aout running an efficient 1 day series, where most all type boats will be able to run...now your boat may not run with a perfect matched class...but at least you will be able to run.
