Well, I have had several requests for me to "get to work" on this new Vision 20 FE build. My wife was out of town this weekend, so it was me, my springer spaniel and THE GARAGE! ha ha. I had forgotten how much room this hull has for radio equipment, and excellent amounts of headroom under the cowling to make a tall radio box easy. So here are the begining build pics. Enjoy, Mike

Very nice! (as Borat would say)

I won't be going to that much effort in cutting out the transom (can't be bothered) but I can see it gives a bit more room.

Keep up the good work!

Kris

I will be honest Kris, I think you need to cut it out..You need the ESC back as far as possible so you can get your lipo on or a little behind the CoG. Just a thought! Mike

Boat looks fast standing still. With all that sponson angle it should turn really well. Looking forward to seeing it run !

Steering setup installed last night. Now its esc and top radio box decking installation time! Should be water ready soon! Mike

Very interesting...

Pics can a say more than a 1000 words...

What stuff are you gonna put in??

Keeps us informed with the rest please.

Ronald

Ron, As of right now, it will use the Medusa 36-60-2000kv motor, and hydra 120 esc...but I am really looking into those Scorpion outrunners as the watt output on them is huge compared to the Medusa motors, and the Scorpions are half the weight. I'm looking for feedback on them as we speak! Mike

Well, Everything is pretty much done other than wiring the ESC to the motor, and programming the ESC, and figureing out a good way to mount the cowling for easy removal. I have all the radio box done, water cooling piping done, radio and esc in place. Here are some pics:

Well, I got the Vision 20 FE in the water this afternoon. I don't know where to begin, but I know where it ends..Right here. This boat is incredible. It does not blow off, no matter how fast it goes, it just holds its place, even with a 1/2" of the rear of the sponson and the prop as the only things in the water. It does not porpoise, does not dance, just stays as smooth and steady as can be. The only thing I need to do right now, is mess with the COG as its a little front heavy in sharp turns while running quarter throttle. If you do a full throttle 20' diameter turn, it holds the pattern perfect, but I don't always drive like that on my small pond, so I will need to adjust it a little. I will say it likes a little positive trim on the lower, in fact, getting the bow up just a little does wonders on the top end. I am using my tried and true 42x55 grim prop, and this is probably the fastest boat its been on, meaning the hull is super efficient, and the electronics come back cold, so I can figure on trying a more aggressive prop very soon. It also jumps right up on plane and goes..so smooth. I dunno, this is the third 20 size FE hull I have tryed, and I think this one is probably the strongest at this point. I still have some work to do on the Cobra, and once that is done, I can discuss it more. I really think the vision hull is capable of 60-70mph speeds, I just don't have that aggressive of a setup to try it, but judging by the stability it has now, shoot, I cannot imagine its not capable. Anyways, there will be more testing on it to come, just gotta find the time. I worked harding getting the boat ready for today, but I have to get back to the whip 20 and cobra builds I am doing for others! Mike
