Tunnel Hull Speed

Fastest speed does not equal fastest lap time. Acceleration is king. We have propped back many times and reduced times. Jay and I have sometimes timed over 100 laps in a test session. You will see lap by lap what props and lines work. Top end props carry more speed in the last 50' into a turn that may put you in outside lanes, or make you cut your throttle.

Mid 50's isnt easy to achieve. (in a .21 sport tunnel) I have a very hard time believing that a mid 50's boat can run tight to the water. Perhaps it can, but I havent seen it.

Nah, mod boat for me, not sport. However, some of the fastest and best tunnels are here in the mid-atlantic and southeast US, and they come to the tunnel champs and the fall nats each year, so we are blessed to see many of them twice a year. Sport B's that crack the 50's and the mods that are in the mid 50's and higher. It is a real treat to see. Kentley Porter is coming to the fall nats with his Sport B and he is the world record SAW champion and the 1/4 Oval champion for the class. Can't wait for what he has in store for us.

Grim - yep, many just using 50% and it can be done.

Thanks to all for the help you have given me some great advice and a goal to shoot for. I am learning that a tunnel is a great hull to try and float not fly lol thanx again. Im running 50% nitro. FEAR WINDS AND FALLOWING SEAS.

Interesting reading guys, i'm running a stock OS on cobra 2 on 30 % i'm somewehere around the 35mph mark and to be honest i run the tunnel for fun against the mono at my club which makes for interesting and sometimes very difficult racing.

As a base setup what hieght and running angle should the OB be set to.

you ARE in for a treat, john. kp's stuff is stupid fast & stable in heat race conditions. it is both amazing & fun to watch him & race against him up here in d-12. don't be afraid to ask him questions, he is as helpful as anyone in this hobby, & a damn nice guy to boot ;) .

I have known KP since the very first day he came into the ODMBA club in about 1993. We had a lot of very good battles in 20 Hydro. Always helpful and a lot of fun for anyone.
