I've still got a dash of European in me and their quiet tuned pipes were almost mesmerizing and not hard on the ears compared to the American versions.

Anyone here make a quality self contained quiet pipe (not add on)? I'm in the market and still have an old Cooper, but it won't work with my next build.
Someone with a lot of experience told me 6-7 yrs ago that, for instance, the CMB 67/80 silenced pipe made a bit more power than their 67/80 fat belly nitro pipe. Pretty sure their comparative was done on the oval track by comparing lap times.

Some of the guys who are going fast are using the silenced carbon fiber pipes by Salisbury Power Pipes (SPP) from Australia. Given the money exchange rate between the US and AUS they are quite reasonably priced.

Seems to me it was 2000 or 2002 or so. Bobby Himile was running a twin .. was it a Jag... anyway.. .. it was LOUD.. people were bitching.. he tossed on a set of quiet pipes and the boat picked up speed.. LOL.. he was like.. I should have done that before!

Stu Barr told me several years ago to run the CMB 67 muffled pipe in my scale, which I did, and the fat pipe in the rigger. Over the years I have tested several pipes including a Bouche, and the fat pipe is hard to beat. At the big nitro races you will see allot of fat pipes. I have seen Bruce Jacobs run the muffled pipe on his E Shooter, never asked him why. Bruce's boat does run well.
