Mounting my tuned pipe has always been a weak point for me. does anyone have any easy/effective/good looking tuned pipe mounting suggestions?

This is for a .21 rigger with the pipe mounted to the tub side from a nova rossi engine.

Thanks

tom

Get Mike Z to send you a pic of his NINJA . It is simple & easy to remove the pipe/motor for cleaning. Basically a cradle with an o-ring. He uses an airplane part for the mounting of the wire to the tub. It works well.

Tom,

Here is what I do. I get some aluminium strip 1/16" thick and bend it around a mandrel, drill some mounting holes, and put it over the pipe with some textured rubber sheet. The bracket tightens up on the strap I then use to connect with something solid on the boat. To take the setup off I remove the lower screw. To adujst for tuned length I loosen both screws and move the pipe. This slightly changes the pipe angle too, but normally not enough to worry about. I have done this for years.

Ian.

i have done simmilar things in the past with brass, but my bending skill usually makes it look pretty sloppy. then I usually try to place the bolt hole in a place where it will kinda tighten up the thing like a clamp and it just does not look as good as i would like.

What Steve is talking about is the tuned pipe mount made by Dave Brown. Gary has them and they can be mounted in different ways. It is a cradle with an O-ring to hold it in place. Not a good description but that's about what it is. Also look at the ones that Seaducer and Speedmaster make, they are transom mounted. I make my own according to where they have to go and what it needs to clear and if it needs to be adjustable. For a .21 pipe you can you 4-40 rod, aluminum sheet or whatever you have laying around.

You've got me thinking now, I've got some Carbon Fiber sheets about 1/8" thick.............

I just replaced the Dave Brown O-ring style mount on my sport40 because the mount would allopw the pipe to be pushed back. These mounts do not resist the BP created by the pipe. My Pico blackhead/CMD Q-Parabolic was shifting back about 1/2 inch as the coupler heated up. I am using a polished aluminun bracket with one of the edm insulated straps on the stinger. Not quite as nice looking but the pipe will not lengthen during a heat.. TJ

looks like i'm gonna have to bite the bullet and design/create/build one from scratch like always... i wish someone made a good one :(

Hey Tom, send me a set of pics from different angles, and ill see what i can whip up on Cad...
