Definitely having fun. Can't go with the pipe, we're running sport tunnel as a club series this year. I'll definitely pull the shim.

Here’s a tip when putting your TS2 together, go out and buy 4 #6-32 X ¾” long STAINLESS STEEL Allen CAP SCREWS for your motor mounts. The standard steel ones that come with the boat will rust on the INSIDE, and when you go to loosen them to make a engine height adjustment the brass inserts will back out (not fun to repair) . I also used a little anti-seize on the stainless screws, but not sure if this is necessary. Will save a lot of headaches !

I'm sure no one else has ever released their TS2 without the radio turned on in the boat. Up until two days ago, JD hadn't either.

Why is that there's alway's a rock bulkhead to run into when one forgets to turn on the radio in the boat?

"The Soundof Music" has nothing on "The Sound of Smashing into a Bulkhead."

Luckily, the damage was not all that bad - nose crushed back about 1" and some slight sponson tip damage. I took some photos of the repair.

1. I soaked the crushed glass cloth in the damaged area with thin CA.

2. A 1/4 " hole was then drilled into the hardened glass cloth and a 1/4" piece of wood dowel was inserted into the nose. Chopped glass cloth was then added around the area where the dowel extended from the nose and thin CA applied to keep the dowel in place.

The next step was to apply Bondo aournd the dowel.

1. I gobbed the Bondo around the post.

2. The nose was then pressed against a flat surface with wax paper on it. The wax paper was then pulled tight to contour the Bondo.

3. Once the Bondo began to harden, the wax paper was removed and the Bondo shaped. It's easier to shave the Bonda when it's sorta like a hard cheese before it gets really hard.

The Bondo is shaped and sanded to complete the repair.

This last photo shows the repair painted with primer. The repaired nose is more pointed than the stock nose.

I rather like the more pointed look. I might as well like it, at least I was able to fix it. The only other damage was to the left sponson tip and that can be seen in this photo.

Sorry to hear what happened to your boat, but the repair looks nice.

I think it will not have any effect on driving the boat.

I don't have to tell you that I allways check steering and throttle before cranking the motor up.

With 65% fuel, M440, and O.S. with head shim removed my TS2 has run in the mid 40s.

Don't know the exact secrets of Ron Byrd, but mr Racecraftbearings TS2 with OS was running some 50 mph I believe at the tunnel shootout this year.

He modified his engine, had a tuned pipe on it and had it trimmed very light. It was fast but he was constantly challenged to keep it on the water. He was right at 50-51 mph.

Hey Jerry I bet yours was running the fastest it ever ran when the radio was not on. Right that always happens too. Some how the radio signals always sloooow the boat down. :lol:

Luckily, it hit the rock bulkhead at about 12 mph. Glad it wasn't running it's fastest - there would have been much more damage than a broken nose.
