The hobby shop close to me can just sell me the standard thunder tiger flex shaft(AA0417) and already broke 2 of them - any other recomendations? What is a shear pin? (R there okes on here asking this type of dumb questions - Im one - hey but maybe in a year I will have the knowledge to give some awnsers). Luckily my boat does not hop around, but I think my problem is that sometimes I give WOT straight away before the bandit can even get some grip. Will send you some pics later on of the bandit and the shaft and everything - bottom end is apart to replace the shaft, but im going to bed now, will dream about it.
Thanks again.
shear pin is that tiny pin right behind the prop,,,, go's through the part that drives the prop//the thing with two ears on it that the prop sits against...they push a tiny hollow pin through there.(roll pin),, they tend to break being so small and hollow to top it off...
... did you replace the teflon liner for the shaft???...
wait ....wait...wait... i think i figured it out sittin here typin,,,, you know your shaft breakage issue.... well,,,,,,,back to the prop drive dog shear pin........im guessing that little sucker is bent over and the prop nut is so tight its binding the prop shaft... that will break shafts with ease...
k,,, you said the lower is apart,,right??? now assemble the prop shaft out of the lower, prop, nut, the whole thing.. if not already assembled,,that is...
now spin that sucker,,you feel a wicked drag??? should spin freely... the prop shaft shear pin is what sets the clearance's in those assemblies,,as with others...if the prop was ever over tightened, your done,,pin is for sure bent like a banana,,and for sure will lead to destruction... ive experienced what was stated above and im sure jerry has had his rounds with them as he stated...
for sure worth checking while its apart...
i have a question for you jaco,,, does your hobby shop supply a full line of tt o/b parts???????? like rods,,wrist pins,, cir clips,,and so on???
