I guess getting FE going will be harder than I thought. As I'm getting close to being done on my VS1 FE build.

I sent a email out to all my club members asking if any would be interested in getting a FE class going ( about 12 guys ), got ONE response... I even explained the cost of the parts needed and gave some names of RTR hulls.

It just floors me that people are not open to expanding a club and or new ideas. I hope this is not the case and the email got overlooked or they are waiting to discuss this issue at a meeting.

Tim,

Don't get discouraged as people will make choices that suit them and not you more often. Once you see and actually run your FE and how it performs you will find the performance will sell itself. Your VS-1 may be too small for the power in my opinion the TS-3, Vision and Dans Cobra's are better FE choices. Nothing wrong with the VS-1 it is a great sport class hull. The 2030 Aquacraft will run all over the OS and may not out top end a mod 21 but might out accelerate them. Build it and they will be converted.

Tim, Send me a PM with your email and phone #. I will put you in touch with 4 guys I know in the twin cities area that we run FE with.

They run P-Sport hydro, P-Ltd Sport Hydro, P-Ltd Tunnel, P-Ltd Offshore, P-Ltd Rigger, P-mono, and Super V.

You can't force the FE thing down peoples throats.

Finish the built and show people what FE's can do. A little exposure is all it takes to dispel the myths that are going around about FE's. If you're lucky, you'll get a couple of current club members to give it a try. But the vast majority in growth of the FE classes will be newbies. Newbies mean increased membership for clubs and the district. And who doesn't want increased membership in this economy?

Someone has to be the trail blazer. Why not you. Let people in the area know you're out there via this and the other FE boards. It might take a year, but you'll get there. It just takes a little bit of effort. :)

What he said.

Five years ago there weren't any FE boats running in D13 except a few at the Tunnel Champs. Today we are running five FE classes in our Grand Prix Series. ;)

Good luck, let us know if we can help in any way.

Doug :)

Bro, I will have one and we can build one for the new kid to run. Joel also has some. So next year we will have enough of them for a class at are races.

Hell it would be cool to do some starts from the beach/dock.

I'm in for doing up an FE boat on a .45 size hull, I already have enough 20 size boats that just sit and collect dust because it's usually too windy to run them.

Sean How many P-sport hydro's are you getting at the Badger races? Is the UL-1 from AQ competitive. I am assuming that these boats are P-spec. Is that correct and have the rules you posted in the Spring changed since then? Thanks Bill Wachtler

Hey Bill,

We don't run the open P-Sport hydros at Badger. Just the P-Spec Sport Hydros. Funny you should ask about the competitiveness of the UL-1 in P-spec sport hydro... The guy who took first place at the last Badger race in p-spec sport hydro won it with a UL-1. He won by being consistent in each heat. The FE Guide I posted is still accurate.

Are you looking to get into the class? If so, lets talk before you pull the trigger on purchases.

Sean thanks for the reply. It is an itch I am scratching now that their is some interest in the TCMBC club. Problem is I don't want to do a tunnel so if I could get some interest going in P-spec sport tunnel my son and I would probably jump in and the fact that Badger runs them makes it even more attractive as I love that pond. The reason I asked about the UL-1 is because after running nitro with pretty good success for years the fast electric scares me to death. I figured the UL-1 may be a good starting point if it was competitive. What other hulls are you running and with the boat count continuing to drop off in the nitro classes is your count going up or down? About how many at each race. This got a little long. Thanks Bill

Hey Sean

I meant P-spec sport hydro in above post. Getting old isn't easy. Since I'm on again, Tim and Mark, why wouldn't you go with the rules D4 has already set up in regards to the ESC. It makes no sense to me as maybe they might come here and vice versa with us going there. How about P-spec sport hydro? You guys interested? Bill

Bill,

P-limited Sport Hydro is my favorite class as well. I sent you a PM with some additional information.

I belive we would go with the rules D4 ( is that ANY ECS )?

We could do hydro instead of tunnel, I just thought tunnel would be better do to Joe S already having one and since they are the most popular in the TCMBC. I have a tunnel almost done. However I can do a hydro also. I will have to look at the P SPEC sport hydro rules. Could I use my whip 20 hull I have on the shelf? Maybe Sean can chim in.

I know Mark likes hydros. I just want to get FE into the TCMBC as I think it is in the future of the toy boat hobby, and by no means am I leaving nitro.

Is it p-spec sport hydro or p-limited sport hydro? Please bear with me Im a newbe to FE

Tim

We do not restrict the ESCs in D4, just the motors. The UL-1 motor is the most popular for tunnel and hydros. We run P-Limited Tunnel, P-limited Sport Hydro, and P-Limited Hydro (rigger) in D4... So build a tunnel and a sport hydro B) If you have a whiplash 20 you are in GOOD shape. That is what I run in P-Ltd sport hydro. Here is a link to my Whiplash build thread if you want to see how I laid mine out. LINK

It would be great to race with you guys at your pond and at the Badger pond. Build them and we will come ;)

Thanks, I will get back to building when I have two hands again (dislocated shoulder and tore the capul) I will have a Whip and VS1 next year! Hope to race with ya!

Tim, My bad. For some reason I thought that D4 required an Aqua ESC. After looking again they don't. If you and Mark build a P-spec sport hydro Jr and I will also commit for next year. That would make 4. Can't say if I would do a tunnel or not. Need to get my feet wet first. Hope to see you this weekend so we can talk some more. Bill

there are quit a few really good tunnels out there now,,,,tim did u ever think of tradeing in your vs-1 for another ps295? mike opened up the list again when he lost his job...i love mine ...i just had the weight off a little at the nats and kept hooking the darn thing lol...why is it that on test day they always run great and dont hook at all till there are a few ripples in the water.....
