Hey Sean, What are the other 3 P spec motors besides the 3 that are mentioned in the guide that you posted?

Thanks,

Mark
Here are the other three. Keep in mind that each “local” club may have some variation to which motors they allow. The three I mention in the FE guide are widely accepted on a national basis for race events.

The original Super Vee motor: SuperVee 27 Brushless Motor L36/56 (1550kv) This motor has been phased out by the manufacturer. You can still find it though. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=dh-aqug7000&cat=52

The new Aquacraft SuperVee 27R motor (1800kv). It comes with the new version of the Super Vee RTR. Some local clubs have not yet adapted this to their allowable list of “Spec” motors, but I suspect it will be allowed in the future as it comes with a production RTR boat from Aquacraft and replaces the old version of the motor. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=dh-aqug7002

The other one is the Himax HB3630-1500 Brushless – 6-Pole brushless motor. Similar, if not the same as the ProBoat 3630-1500 motor.

Again, I would check with your local FE racers to see what motors they are running. The three listed in the FE spec guide are a safe bet locally.

Almost forgot… the brushed 700 motors are still allowed as well, but they can’t keep pace with today’s brushless motors.

Mark, sound like your gathering info for you nephews FE to get put together. :D

Hi Tim,

Myself and Doug Peterson put together a FE Guide for District 4. The guide was written to an audience of nitro/experienced racers in mind, and focuses solely on the P-limited classes. It covers available motors, ESCs, Batteries, Chargers, connectors, BECs, starter props, and popular race hulls for the various spec classes.

Here are some more pics: http://forums.offsho...75&postcount=97

See attached document below. Hope it helps.
Thanks for the info.

You're welcome.

Last month there was discussion on limiting the esc is spec classes to what comes in the RTR boats from AQ & PB, any ideas if this has actually been put into the rules?

As far as I understand the spec rules we've had for the last couple of rules were never official, now that people have figured out what works in the classes the rules are supposed to be finalized.

Not looking for a rules debate, not interested in hearing about any opinions, rules is rules and I'll happily run what they want me to, if I don't like it I can choose another class.

I just want to know what if any changes have been made and I'll adjust accordingly.

The NAMBA rule proposal will be in this month's Propwash. The IMPBA rule discussion is currently taking place off site and will be presented to the membership next year.

Hi Tim Leyde,

I see you are in Minnesota. Sean and I race with some guy's in Minnesota. We go to their race and they come to ours. They are really good at racing electrics. They are in the greater Minneapolis area. I can hook you up with them if you would like.

Doug,

For sure I am in their neighborhood!

Thanks,

Tim

I just sent an e-mail to all these guy's. I would expect you will hear from one of them.

Mark,

I have had a few of the FE guys from MN come to the TCMBC pond in the past.. They race in Edina (chain of lakes).

Still.. it would be good to have em come back and play boats.

I know mostly it was the weeds in the TCMBC water that concerned them.

Grim

Hey Grim - how you doin these days?

Tim - there are a number of us that race F/E in Minneapolis. We race all the spec classes (Offshore, Sport Hydro, Tunnel & Riggger)and many of the open classes as well.

The last two years we haven't had much organized racing with the exception of the couple races we hold in MN or travel to.

This year though, we'll be getting together at least once per month starting in May.

I've thought about going down to TCMBC and seeing if they'll let me race our spec tunnels with their .21 boats. Not sure how it'll be received but it couldn't hurt to ask.

PM me and we can connect offline.

Grim - You have me confused with my bro. I'm not bald and a bit better looking  :D  .

Dave - I would like to come and check out the FE and possibly race this year or next! I asked the guys in TCMBC having a FE class its up to

all of us to discuss. After all they are all toy boats!

Hi Dan, Im good and I hope you are the same. Say hi to the rest of the gang for me.

TCMBC dudes.. the local FE racers are the REAL DEAL, great guys and hardcore, have fast boats and know how to drive em!

It might be a VERY good thing to have them come and play boats at the TCMBC pond.

See ya all on June 5th!

Dan,

I haven't heard one thing. I would like to see some good FE's run, maybe even join in. The TCMBC pond is in great shape this year!

Tim

Where to place the steering servo in the FE tunnel?

Tword the bow or the transom?

Does one have any advantages over the other?

Thanks

Tim

No real advantage. Just place all the parts in the boat and shuffle them around till it is neat, batteries can be removed easy and of course you can get the correct CoG. When I changed ours to fe I left the servo at the front...
