I guess I shouldn't be , but daily I'm amazed at the ME FACTOR that exists in today's society.

It doesn't matter where you go- what your doing - or where you are...........

There seems to be more and more people that ignore common courtesy- and a little respect for their fellow man. It's a sign of things to come, a society that has become its me or no one-

My grandfather and his forefathers are rolling over in their graves as I speak................

copy that!!

You should see the smile I get from some people at a drive thru window, when all I did was say "thank you" after they took my order.

The look I get from men 3 times my age (thankful, but simply amazed that it happened) when I actually hold the door for the line of 10 people directly behind me.... Its insane.

"ME factor" I was kinda thinking that too when I looked at the small stack of "gifts" under the I/W Christmas tree.

Think I'll add another one tonight.

Andy, I noticed that as well. I dont have anything to gift out. I gave away all of my GO motors and parts that I had earlier on in the year, along with a couple boats. I just went downstairs and cleaned up the basement/boat area last night. Not a darn thing down there to gift. Was kind of bummed about it to be honest.

I know what you mean Rodney. It's kinda hard to find something worth giving that is not the house or wore out junk. Being in the boat business I have a lot of stuff around here that has collected up over the years, but I look at it and say, "well who would actually want that?" Or I say, NO WAY! That's MINE,MINE MINE! I'm keeping it!! LOL

Calm down men, only the 3rd of Dec. B) ...==={}

I have 2 boys, 9 and 11 years old. If they don't hold the door for adults, especially women,.. it's just about paddle time!!! They have since discovered that the reaction they get for being do polite is nice.. they like to do it.. in fact,.. my 9 year old will race me to the door to do it!!! small things matter.. The Christmas give away,.. man I have had something to gift each year for a while.. I just don't really have any extra parts laying around anymore.. Actually went to the garage just looking for something when it started..

I have no idea why I would tell you guys this but I collect books on etiquette. I have over 15 books in my collection all the way back to 1915.

So fun stuff is:

The difference between dinner and supper

The difference between a lady on your right or left. (HINT KEEP EM ON YOUR RIGHT SIDE!)

How you pass somebody on the street and the proper way to do so.

The proper way to deal with your plate after a meal…..

The list goes on and on and on and on.. ALL GOOD even today!

Hard to make this not sound like bragging, but....people who know me, know that....im the guy that lets cars in whether thay thank me or not...when someone lets me in, i make SURE they know i appreciate it...I STILL say thank you mam, or sir, pardom me mam or sir, may i help you? (raised military, THANK GOD)CANNOT pass by a Salvation Army bell ringer without dropping money in, take the Gkids shopping to pick up stuff for toys for tots every year, even when we shouldnt because money is tight......but its always tight, so what the hell...well do it again this year, and i may not even have a job in 6 months. I know it all sounds like alot of bull, but i had a father who DEMANDED courtesy and respect, and a mother who believed in in humility and giving to those less fortunate, even if some were dishonest about thier situation, and got away with it, my heart was still in the right place by trying to do a good deed. Im thankful for the kind of parents i had, and i also believe that there should be a law in this country making mandatory for kids coming out of high school to serve two years in the military...wouldnt bother me a bit......oh,and the movie "Falling Down".......GREAT!

While driving through the parking lot at Fred Meyers I witnessed a man fall, just dropped right down on his face.

No one stopped to help and some literally stepped over the guy.

Jumped out of my truck and checked him out, He had experienced a stroke

People stood inside the building with their faces plastered to the glass and no one came to assist

Finally a couple young boys came out and called 911

I was just astounded

That is that is the society we live in

I was raised to be respectful , polite and to help others , my children are being raised the same way.

It's up to us the parents to make sure our children are raised with the proper values and no one elses , we have to take responsibility for our children.

Only then will things change.

My wife's boss looks just like him and wears those 1950's glasses as well. Retired USMC captain (viet nam vet), and he always looks like he is about to spas out like that but he is really a nice guy.
