Setting up both an A-mod Tunnel and a Spt. 40. Would like to know the reguirements for each. Also would like to hear which servo`s you guys like. I am aware of the airtronics 94358Z, but not sure I am ready to spend $100 bucks for a steering servo, although in the interest of safety maybe this is the best way to go.

Futabas are the only way to go. get a good hitorq steering on and will never regret it.

I used Hitecs (2) of them, and both went bad, sure they will replace them, but a pain in the ass. I tossed them. water raises hell with them.

I run open futaba and never a problem.

and my boats are always "in" the water.

Go with the Futaba 9402. 111oz @ 6v. The prices are coming down for some reason? :D Seen one today for $69.95

My personal preferences are all Futaba, the 9405 in scale, sport 40, & smaller (40 & under) riggers. All the bigger riggers get the 3302 except for the twin which gets the 5301 (292 oz. torque) All three have metal output gears & the water & dust resistant cases. And definitely like Preston said, NO digitals!! B)

Don

What's wrong with digitals? I was using one last year in my E mono and was quite happy with it. What's the probs?????

Thanks

Olly

Well it damn near cost Preston his prized Crapshooter 40 hydro. As we have been recently informed, if you have the slightest momentary power "glitch" a digital servo has to reinitialize itself with a delay of between 1 & 1 1/2 seconds. At 80 mph 1 1/2 seconds with no control is a recipe for disaster as Preston found out, right from bouy #5 to the shoreline. And we're talking ANY type of power glitch, even a fraction of a second that a normal servo would probably not even recognize. Plus when power goes down in your battery pack the digital servos don't get slow like a conventional servo, my understanding is they just stop.........

I also found digitals are very sensitive to water and moisture.

In my gas boats i run the 3302s open. Both for throttle and steering.

That way i also only have to carry 1 spair.

Have had good luck with futaba spray with corriosion X and never lost one yet.

**** should of said that huh?

Anyhow these suggestions are just our .02 worth.

Tom

I'm using Digital servo's of Graupner , Had it once that the battery went flat , they do not stop but they aren't as powerful as normal ( logical ).

So far i got no real complains about them , just one thing tho , its like my engine is running when i only switch on my servo's lol , they make noise like hell

for those interested :

using

DS 8417

DS 361

DS 8418

regards ,

Bart

OK now I understand. I was thinking about getting one for my scale, but now I will think again. They are also a lot of $$$$s.

Thanks

Olly

Go with Hitecs.. Much cheaper and they stand up to the abuse.

Charley, I thought for a while that I was one of the few that liked Hi-Tecs. I run the little H81-MG's in the .12 boats and the 615-MG's in my monos. Yes, they don't make them anymore but mine are doing fine. They've been Aeroplated and been dunked more than once.

Ron,

I love them... Reasonably priced.. Great performance.. I am sure there are problems with them, but I have yet to see them!!

Happy boating,

Charley..

This must be a Futaba thing because I just tested my KO Propo digital servo and it does not have any delay when powered up. I even turned the radio off and on and it acts the same as an analog servo.

Maybe it's an Indian River thing.
