Spektrum radios/ which receiver for nitro boats

I have also seen this happen...but there are also ALOT more futaba radios at a race than any other It is more about the frequency/qty of incidents (Vs amount of radios being used) than anything.

I have seen certain people have issues with all brands of radios...so it is not always the radio haha

And yes Julio, I would advise that only radios which have not had issues in any Dragons...they are hard/slow to get! But that does not mean it has to be Futaba...just that you need to be aware incorrect use/setup of ANY radio WILL give you issues on the water!

Hello guys, just a up date on my radio decision; I bought a Futaba 3PV with the R304 SB S Bus2 4 channel RX. The transmitter shows receiver battery voltage, and transmitter battery voltage on the transmitter screen. Thanks for the informative posts. Richard

Something to ponder.. the 304 is a fine RX BUT.. for boats AT A MINIMUM run a 400mm RX antenna. Futaba can install it for you.. just contact there service center.

Then.. as a future upgrade.. Please consider a 324RX

I never had any issues running 603 fs fasst receivers in or around carbon fiber. I’m a bit reluctant to switch to a newer transmitter that modulates in S-FHSS for boats. I have a 4PV for one of my trail/rock trucks but they rarely get more than 20 feet away.

Larry.. you can BE around carbon fiber but the danger is carbon fiber blocking the line of sight signal.

The Futaba S- FHSS receivers work great. I’ve been running the Futaba 4PLS with the R203GF receivers and haven’t experienced any issues in 3 years.
I have seen people running the spectrum radios longer than that with success and no radio issues.

The tub on my SG was wrapped with carbon fiber, and the lids on it and a few other hydros I’ve had were carbon fiber. I’ve always run the antenna lead out of the radio box. They are short and fit under the cowls on my tunnels and sport 40.
