SpeedWeek 2024 at Blue Lake

We were down there Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday the water was too rough to do much of anything. Yesterday wasn't ideal but we still managed to grab a few. Of course, none of this is official until the paperwork is processed and someone could come in before the trials end and nab our spots but... I lowered the LSG 27 Mono 2-lap 1/3 mile oval to 21.9 seconds. We upped the Q Mono SAW to just a hair over 90 mph and the S Mono record to 95.7 MPH. Everyone was saying the wind and water conditions would be much better today so more records may fall!

Another successful SpeedWeek in the bag!!! Thanks to everyone who attended, and everyone who helped. I obviously couldn’t have pulled it off without a lot of support!!! I hope everyone had a great time; I know I did, even if I am a little sore!!! 72 balloons people…seventy-two!!! I’m glad people were posting updates during the week. I was going home and falling flat-faced into my bed!!!

Thanks Jason and John for carrying the torch and putting on Speedweek. Our IMPBA President Mr. Smock was there giv. ing morale support and keeping humor up at an appropriate level. Good to see my boating family the Grim's there as well as Ken Haines. I missed Huff's setting some super fast mono records, but I heard they had to sacrifice an Orca to the murky bottom of Blue Lake. David had his 60 rigger wicked up to "11" when he ran 15.1sec. He probably had a high 14 in there, but it's hard trying to get a rigger around 4 good corners at those speeds. I got some good runs in with my 90 rigger and tried to put 4 good turns together with my 8 cell hydro, but it needs a little taming down to get there. I did manage to bump Chris Harris' N rigger record from 91 to 101mph with a Raptor rigger running on 2 cells. I also got to meet Andy Brown finally after almost 20 years of running SG's and SGX's. And perhaps most importantly my old blue truck made it home in one piece albeit with one window that would roll up. See you guys next year.

Opps event going. Glenn would have been proud of you guys. It was great to see the Grims again and Adam thanks for the tip on the radio set up was a big help. Had a blast hanging out with the Huffs and Mr. Smock. Guys thanks for all your help and congrats on the new records. Hope to see everyone next year.

Congrats on the N-Hydro record! That one’s been there a while..

Thanks Chris, 2 cells is a tough class on ESC's and mine held together just long enough pegged at 450A to make two passes. We tried a higher pitch prop, but the ESC finally gave up. We hope you come back and build some new boats to chase some records.

It’s a 9:2 ratio. Work 9 days and sleep for 2. Seriously it’s amazing watching the really fast people go about their business. Lots to be learned if you pay attention. The week goes by fast when you’re working with great people. That’s all for now - off for a nap!
