I'm looking for a 11cc inboard engine. Who's still making them? The only ones that I have come across are CMB's sold by Seaducer boats.

John
Al Hobbs should be providing a bit of competion for the CMB motors soon with the AA Motors. I bought a couple of MAC motors here in the last 6 months. Is it for the Karleson Round nose?

Glenn

Not many choices right now.....these guys have CMB's as well at good prices... Hobby Supplies

Next year Al Hobbs will have his Rossi built A/A 67 out and then the race will be on.....

I can't believe thats all thats left. I'm sure CMB's are good, but I remember being able to get OS, Picco, OPS, K&B, etc... Does Al Hobbs have a website? I know he won't have them for awhile but at least I can bookmark it.

Glenn, yes its for the Karleson, I still can't believe I came across that one. Normally I'm about fifth in line for good deals.

I don't think Al has a website you will have to contact here with a P.M.. Nothing wrong with the CMB green heads. You have a long way to go. By the time you gather up the hardware there may be more choices.

Glenn

I would have to agree with the above statement. That picco is pre EXR and hard to find parts for. So it is a crap shoot. The KB motors need to be modified to compete. Wait for the AA 67 or pick up a used MAC 67. The parts will be interchangable between the two. Best option.

Hi, the right think to do before you buy engine is to check the avalability of spare part. Now, for this engine size you have choice between K&B, CMB and OPS. If you are interessed by CMB or OPS engine, I can help you.

Chris

He is looking for a 67. Not many options in that size motor.

Glenn, came across a real good deal last night on a different forum. Got an OPS with pipe and mount and he had some running hardware he thru in, really didn't need the hardware but couldn't argue. What is a fair price for a MAC engine? I never had a MAC and can't find any pricing.

John, I think I paid 425 or 450 for the new one and 400 for the rebuilt one. If you need any hardware I may have some pieces you could use. I know I have a extra Mike Hughes turn fin and I use the 1/4" cables stepped down to 3/16 at the prop. If you did not get a set-up sheet with the boat perhaps Phil Thomas could send you one.

P.S. I agree with Chris the .67 Green Heads are good durable moters. I had his father(Steve Wood) set up all my CMB motors. The Macs seem durable too but lack the low speed adjustment that the CMB or O.S. 9B carbs have.

Im just sharing my own experience...strictly my own opinion....i ran a Mac 67 in a scale hydro and will NEVER do it again......why? Absolutly no low end no matter what i tried.....Its a great rigger motor or maybe a mono motor and is a very well built and dependable engine...but i changed to a Picco 67 EXR with an O.S. 9b carb and i had a COMPLETLY different boat...i think with a CMB 67 Green Head the results would be the same... i have one but havent run it yet, but you will find that alot of guys are very happy with that motor also..if you can find an EXR for a good price, i think youd really like it because whether you get a Mac or a Picco spare parts may be an issue...... or spend the money for the CMB "greenie" if you can, and own an engine that parts are available for.....When Al Hobbs gets His AA 67 motors out, im sure they will be GREAT motors also! Hope you can find something good! :)

I hear ya Bill! the only reason I'm using the Mac motors in the .67 mono is that is what the boat was set up for. With the cmb the carb is too close to the fuel tank. The Mac I'm running now is a second generation with the large .550" bore carb.( I heard they share the same case with the .84). I bought a back up motor from Don Ferrette that is a first generation that came with a .550 bore and .509 bore throttles. (and smaller case volume). The new Gen 2 is a WILD THING at wide open and will not mill. Perhaps it just needs more run tim to loosen up a bit. I,m taking both motors with me this Sunday.
