I think taking the mystery out of burning nitro and better eng that will say together will bring more back to the pond.

I do not think it is the price of the parts and eng but when it blows up the first time out soured many to nitro.

nothing worse than having a $600 eng seize up or hole a piston on the first run.

Helping people under stand what needs to be done will bring more to the hobby.

I'm glad there are enough nitro riggers running somewhere for this to be an issue. On my end of the world we need all the boats we can get.
Nitro is making a resurgence.
Yes ..I am doing my part as much as I can !! Part of it I think is the wealth of knowledge being shared on here regarding operational problems and techniques regarding fuel systems and pipes , and propellers etc . I have been doing this a long time but i have learned quite a bit in the last 3 or 4 years on this forum and with guys from this forum at the races . Big thanks to all the guys contributing on the tech. issues !!

Andy , glad to see you fired up about this race and I am sure I wiill be there . It's gonna get BIG !!
I agree completely Tom , I think the people of I.W. have helped to take a lot of the mystery out of Nitro racing and that's a great thing.

I am also wondering if maybe it's a sign that the economy is finally starting to turn around for my American friends?

I sure hope so.

Find a used rigger and drop your Big mono engine in it, and come play.

All Nitro All Hydros.. six boat heats max. :)
"All Nitro All Hydros.. six boat heats max."

Looks like we are going that way.

5 quaifying rounds with top six going into a 3 round final.

Per-registared, designated "back up boats" will be allowed.

This means you can bring a back up boat, but it must be pre-registared as such. You can't borrow your buddies boat that raced in previous heats. The purpose of this is that there will be little or no time for repairs. Some racers will travel very long distances to race one or two specific classes. No reason for someone to sit on the sideline due to a broken part that can't be fixed in 20 minutes. We want to keep the heats full of the highest quality race boats.

This is the type of race to inspire more people to get involved in nitro riggers..i remember only 3 years ago we didnt even have one 60rigger..we only had 3 40 riggers and 3 or 4 twins...this is how our 2day races were for many years...Now is a totally different story..

We have brought nitro back, this next race in brandon we have more nitro boats(esp riggers) than ive seen in the past 15 years..So if your thinking about building or buying a nitro rigger, now is the time!!

It seams to me that if we are looking to build up the ranks of racers. That a cheaper alternative to a few thousand dollar twin would be the way to do it. not every one has the means to build this kind of boat.

From the people I have talked with thy want to step up to the f/x class. But don't because thy do not want to race with the big twin boats.

I thing it is time to put big egos aside and do what is best for the hobby.

David
I am with you David & Doc, the fact is that the people that want to and have the money to race twins will race them, but alot of people love the big boats but can't afford the cost of running a twin but would love to run a single F boat and i have talked to several people that would do so but they don't feel it is worth it if a single has to run with the twins. Remember when you talk about the past the twins are bigger and have alot bigger engines from back when a single f boat could win any given race. When i ran a single 80 boat most twins had. 67's in them. Not complaining just trying to decide to build a single F boat. Rich Junker

i disagree with you mr junker. theres a reason its called F Hydro if they don't want to run against the Twins in the class then you guys dont need to build the boat..

F Hydro is F hydro now if they offer the F hydro single class then by all means join that class but if you complaining because you have to run against twins if they dont offer the single F hydro class then dont race the boat.. its too easy

I have to agree with Rich Junker. The F/X class is a great Idea. I also agree that the F class should remain "as is", but the F/X class is a great idea because we have such a wide rage of engines that cover the F class today...and the reliability of twins has improved and the numbers of them racing has increased. 15 -20 years ago it was very rare to see a twin engine boat in California, or even a 90 for that matter. Everyone ran 80's in the X class. Now there are a bunch of twins in California. When the F class was started by the IMPBA there were NO engines for the class. Guys had to build there own, so the reallity was that there was not a big disparity.

F/X just makes good sence!

never said hat the single F hydro is not a bad idea. so what happens if they dont offer the Single F hydro class in a race mr brown ???

Some clubs here in Fla have been offering both. If there are guys in the local aera that want to race the class then the club will offer it.

If they don't then so be it! Clubs are free to offer what ever classes they wish. Racers and clubs normally adjust to the "prevailing winds".
