Lets just say its a 6 boat winner take all Shotout- #1 Qualifier and #5 qualifier are the only boats to finish, everyone else gets a start. Who's 3rd ? and so on.

It truely needs to be very clear on the flier, Im a bigger fan of the Shootout format that they run at the race outside of Fl. from what I have read of the format. That said , at a big race where it is used, the Event winner should be scored on points for 4 rounds and the 5th round Shootout between the top 6 in class be an entirely different deal, once again- just my .02

Dont ask me why I feel that

the 4 rounds determine who is in the final 5th heat for the trophy e.i. top 6 boats if no boats finish the 5th heat or the 5th heat cannot be ran because of mother nature the heat trophy's should be given according to the top 6 boats in points..

Did the race start? If so last man standing wins.

If completely blown out, qualifying results set the standings.
William, What do you do if the last two boats running tangle up and float in the back stretch, And they were both on the same lap? Do we see who can swim across the lake the fastest? Rain will wreak havoc on a race that is running shootout format heat races

Only if I can borrow Nubs arm floaties and wear flippers.

Joe, why don't you concentrate on winning one first at Atlanta before you take pot shots at a past winner. Hear the same drivel when Mort won. ;)

Stay on track Ray- You girls keep the personal shot for Atlanta- Still have not answered the original questions ????

Hell lets go one further-

#4 Qualifier wins / # 1 is Second - No one else finishes-

Obviously 1/2 are set -

# 2 and #3 are 25 points apart going into the final - #2 being 25 ahead-

#2 gets no start- #3 gets a start - no they are tied - Who is third ??????????????

Just some food for thought in a shootout format is all- And rest assured Ray-

If your thinking this far into it like some of us are- You ran really well and screwed the pooch all by your lonesone

Once again- ask me how I know ;)

I personally points race EVERY heat, you can pretty much rest assured after the first round - I know where I need to be on Sunday. Sure a win is nice all the time- but it aint everything either......

If no one finishes the heat you go by the 1-4 heats overall points and that determines the winner.

My 2 cents.

I agree but ultimately is the decision of the CD what happens. Hope fully it has a good outcome.

HA winner take all final, love it or hate kind of thing.

In scale racing that uses finals we have seen only 1 finisher which would be a first place, then the next boat dnf with the most laps gets second and then the the third place dnf boat.

Of course these finishers cannot be a dq boat. Many senarios are possible.

I prefer 3-4 rounds for all boats in a class then the top 6 go for the last round, winner is determined by the total for all rounds. This saves time if you have class with many entries, only 1 heat per class in the last round.

To my understanding Atlanta runs 4 rounds and the the top 6 go for the trophy round.

The 4 heats count just to get you in the show. The points are then reset and however you come in

that's the place you get regardless of heats 1-4 points.
