tried a bunch of different 440/3 bladers on my nova rossi 33 seaducer and even tried a sho boat chopper, best one so far is a stock dia 440/3 with a lot of pitch. has anyone tried grimracers 40x57/3 or maybe an abc 40x62/3? thanks john virgalla

did some testing today and found out that too much pitch in a 440/3 rolls the boat to the left side? kinda strange, tried a stock 440/3 and did not roll to the side as much. i did move the rudder to the right and shimmed the right side and it helped with the pulling to the right, hopefully more testing later this week if the wife allows?

Try a m440

Interesting thread John!

So is it fair to say that in the time from your first comment to your second you tried even more pitch and found the pulling to the left only happened once you had a certain amount of pitch on the blades? If so, do you know how much pitch it was on the blade that caused the veer? Also, did the speed go up at all with the extra pitch or were there any signs that the motor was starting to struggle to pull the prop?

Have you reduced or removed the leading edge tongue at all?

Tim.

My 29 ducer does the same roll the funny thing is it still turns good.I am running the chopper prop runs smoother w/ the

chopper

The 1614 chopper prop makes it run smoother and picks the speed up also get a hold of Mark Sholund tell him exactly your set up he will fix you up. Robert

i tried the 1614 and lotsa rpms and loss of speed, really planted the bow. with the 440/3 the more pitch i gave it - no loss of rpms in the corners. i notched a corner of the strut mount and pushed it as far to the right on the transom as i could and shimmed 1 side with #6 washers to keep it running straight. i am trying a little bit of everything to see what works the best, if this doesnt work out maybe ill try the 1614 again, out on the pond i took a break and ran my wild thing with a cmb green head and i tell ya- not a bad boat, the ducer has more speed but the wild thing just handles great, lotsa fun

If the 1614 is doing that then change strut setting kick it out some that prop is awesome

i got to admit i did have the strut high with the 1614 and level with the bottom. on the 33 ducer what strut settings should i use with the 1614? . i have a dist race in nh next weekend and ill run it with the 440 and i have the month of july to play with it again

Tim

go with a mod 1614\3 chopper, that was what i ran on mine, and dam' it was a rocket, ask anyone who saw that thing run...

Hi Aaron,

Yeah I saw it go at the Winter Spec last year and it was a rocket for sure. If you have one in stock, could you send it to me S & B please? 1st run on the 28th hopefully.

Thanks,

Tim.

Hey John!

I went out today and did some testing with that chopper you let me borrow last race. Well all i can say is you may not be getting the prop back next week!! ha.... I found that i had to pull the pipe about an 1/8 to get it to stay on the pipe and to have it throttle back up. I also had to raise the strut with this prop but kept it level. I think i like it so far and the boats not doing any of the goofy things transitioning in/out of the turns like it used too. We'll talk more next week. Oh and i guess i should order myself a prop.

Andrew Grenier.

well andy looks like i will be getting beat by that prop in nh, i think i went in the wrong direction with the 440/3, altho this is the best it ever ran the way it is now we will have to put those boats side by side and really compare the way they run and if you beat me it wont be the first time, see ya this weekend.

I tried the Ozspec prepped Chopper prop today on my Nova powered SD3 and it was great..... thanks Aaron!

Ive got a OZ spec chopper coming.

Cannot wait to try it out on my mac powered 33inch mono.

I use to run a 42mm prop - think it was a 1742 but it had some work. Went well with a TD-SPP 21 pipe.

Now i have a really small SPP pipe compared to that and it give me MASSIVE rpm compared to the TD-SPP pipe and i have to run a x440/3 andy brown prop. It goes well and i cannot wait to try the chopper...

Dave

Guys,

It is all about RPM with these set ups.

Less cup the better, FYI, .010" of cup will reduce

RPM by almost 500 RPM. Work with shorter pipes and

you will not be able to run all that much cup, but your

boat will run faster and handle better. The ABC 1614/3

chopper is by far the best propeller we have ever had

on a seaducer 21 mono for heat racing. Some just need a

little adjustment in cup or diameter.

Have Fun Testing,

Mark Sholund

i think mark is right on this one, ran my dist race on sat and my seaducer was setup for a 440/3 and andys boat had my shoboat chopper and his boat just absolutly flew. i am going back to the chopper and a different pipe, i thought i had a 3280 and was told i have a mack 1180, andy loaned me a andy brown pipe also. i also have a new 3280 and a k-pipe i will test with. mark told me a month ago what direction to go and i didnt listen, my wife tells me i dont listen to her ether. i may have a problem. mark thanks for all the info. john virgalla
