Hi

Is anyone running this combo? I am currently runing a X450 but it takes a long time to RPM on the strats. It's good in the corners though.

Has anyone tried an ABC Prop???

The pipe is Andy Brown's quiet pipe set at 9 1/2" and I'm using 60 % fuel.

Any suggestions

Thanks

Olly

Olly,

A X-447/3 or an ABC 52 x64, it will give you more speed in the turns and

Str.Away once it is pitched properly. Another one you might try is a X-646/3

CUP TO 5.29" it should be GOOD TO GO!!! :

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

Anyone else help out my "mate" on this one, he can't stand it when it takes the full SAW to hit 80, he wants it right now!!!

Heh Olly Bryan uses 450x3 on his SD3. We have an assortment of relieved, Barr Cut and Back cut versions you are welcome to try.. Tony J

What 45 MAC Version are you running? The newest version in this boat works awesome with a 450 - 3 blade prop. I have heard some people actually swinging 452 - 3 blades with this engine - but that was in a microburst...

Thanks Guys

Jay it's the latest and greatest 45. It will pull the 450/3 if the water is rough enough. I was thinking of pulling a coil wire out of the plug and seeing if that would help next weekend. The strut on the Microburst is a lot longer than the SD3. I don't know if that would make the difference.

Thanks

Olly

Pulling the coil wire will help to an extent. It sounds like maybe you just need to loosen up your hull a bit.

Keep your strut at the same angle it is now and raise the whole blade a 1/32 to a 1/16. Minor adjustment in that will make all the difference.

A good setup Seaducer will look slow and set up too tight in smooth/calm water. As soon as a couple more boats join you and you get into race chop the boat should be rockin' and rollin.

You may want to order another 450/3 and get some diameter cut out of it. Or get a 447/3 and have it pitched up..... I don't see why you shouldn't be able to pull a 450/3.

What elevation are you running at? What temperature?

A 646/3 pitched/cupped up could an awesome prop on that boat. I run one on my sport 40 that Mark Sholund worked up, great prop & faster than a stock 450/3. It's smaller diameter let's the motor really sing without loading it up too much in the corners. B)

Olly,

You can stick with 9.5" on the pipe ( the recommended length and the one I use on the riggers) and work with some different props as suggested by the others. BTW- that X450 with the cup reduced a little works awesome.

Or, do as most other guys do in the Monos. Pull the pipe back a bit. 10.0" is very good for the Seaducer. With that length you can work with the more "normal" 45 mono props.

Good Boating ,

Andy

Olli,

Jay‘s point on the set up is the key. My 45SD3 and 67 SD3 looks like slugs until there are a few boats on the water. I have been running my 45SD3 this year with the set up listed below with excellent results. As far as pulling the wire on the plug, I always pull it. As Andy puts it “free horse power”.

Hull: new SD3 45 set up per Jerry’s instructions

Strut: .5 deg of negative

Prop: CMDI X450/3 3.8 cup

Engine: MAC 45 (basically box stock)

Pipe: CMDI Parabolic (large stinger not drilled out) set at 10.0 (10.25 for high altitude)

Anyway that’s my 2 cents.

Will

Thanks again everyone, I will have lots of things to try at the weekend.

Don I have a 646/3 on order sounds interesting.

Andy I really like this motor. I have lots of testing to do before I go to the Nats.

Jay I will check elevation at the weekend - temps low 70's.

Thanks

Olly

Another prop tp try would be a 2 blade 450. If the 450/3 is just a bit too big, the 2 blade may be the ticket.

Wait, nevermind, your racing in the same hi-points series as me. try a 460 pitched up until the boat doesn't launch... then add a little more pitch.

I just got back from the pond and pulling the plug wire really helped a lot and I found a X450 2 blade worked really well. This boat and engine seems to get faster the more I run it.

Thanks

Olly

Guys

I am kinda a newbie at this so don't laugh at this question. What do you mean by pulling the wire on the plug? How do you do it? What is the gain from doing it?

Thanks Guys

Ps I was at the pond today and seen Olly's boat run. All I can say is wow! He broke 61 mph on the radar gun today!!

Thanks for your help today Olly and Terry.

What they are talking about is pulling a coil or two out of the glow plug exposing it more to the combustion chamber instead of being completely inside of the plug. I picked up this tip from Andy's brother John at the Internats last year.

61... not bad for an X450. There is more to be had yet. :D
Andy
And that was with the radar gun on a tripod between 20-30 degrees to the water, you could add 5-10% to that - fast!

Looks like my partner is gonna have fun this year!

No sweat Dave, did you find what was "headin' south" on your 45?

Yes you guessed right Terry. Bearings are toast. Piston scored aswell. I bought the engine used. I should have tore it all down before I ran it.

Oh well live a learn. I ordered the replacement parts to rebuild it today.

Terry where can I get a set of the head clearance guages like the one's you have. I need a set.

Ya, sometimes buying used stuff doesn't work out too well...

Our "Head Gauges" are available from Gary Preusse at 630-279-2451, $24.95, ask him to put them in a padded envelope so they come right to your door. ;)
