Ok so im just about to finish my Dragon Fli 20 and it will be done with some paint and cleared wood.......My question is after the 1rst coat of Spray Max 2K clear has dried can i lightly scuff it with 320 to 400 sandpaper and spray on a 2nd coat of clear? Ive done a couple of boats with Rustoleum and then clear them with 1 heavy coat of 2K clear and was reasonably happy with the finish but havent tried scuffing and shooting a 2nd coat of clear like with automotive paints and clears! Many thanks!!

I wait until the first coat application of clear flashes, then spray another coat. Been applying 3 moderate coats of 2K clear resulting in a glass like smooth finish. Never had a bonding problem or durability issue.

Just make sure your push the red plunger down hard enough to release the hardner. Some have taken alot of pressure to release and the results are not good if the hardner is absent.

Just my $.02...

The SprayMax 2K Clear product works best if you build up LIGHT coats with a 5-6 min flash period between coats. Temperature is important, humidity not so much. In fact, my experience indicates that stuff likes humidity.

When using the 2K products, NEVER use a single heavy coat, ALWAYS use light coats with minimal flash time....the temperature ambient will dictate the flash time. This procedure will net you the best in durability and fuelproofing.

Just follow the SprayMax instructions, on can, regarding spray coat density, temp ambient, and flash time.....the warmer the temp ambient, the shorter the flash time.
One other thing- that stuff can wreck your lungs, and it is accumulative, so it can kill you in short order....I prefer to spray it outside with a big fan blowing it away from me....and I also use those cheap Tyvex disposable suits. You do not want the spray getting on your skin, either....also I use a 3M filtered spray shield. If using in enclosed room-even a downdraft spray booth, use the shield.....once the damage is done, there is NO treatment, nor coming back from it....Anyone who says otherwise is simply arrogant, and stupid.

Hope this helps
