Yeah it was a bummer. It was a new boat only run once before two weeks ago at Legg where it ran 72 mph. So I was pretty confident it would run good in Flint, but SAW racing is risky business and the windy conditions and my happy trigger finger had other plans.

Overall, we had great water on friday night so we just did a little testing without the timing equipment set-up. We were up and running at the crack of dawn this morning and again had good water, but by 7AM the wind picked up and we were confined to bench racing except Mike Ross and Larry who ran their gas boats with some success although not close to record speeds. Terry finally held the trigger for more than a second and ticked away a 109mph pass in his 67 hydro. I have pics I will post tomorrow or Monday.

It's still pretty windy and we expect a storm to pass by tonight and probably linger tomorrow morning.

Ahh man T, now that totally sucks losing the mono, any local divers in the area who might want to make some tax free side money?

Hallelujah we found the boat on Sunday morning while waiting for the wind to die down. The batteries were completely flat reading 0.000V. The esc looked like a giant barnacle inside and actually corroded off some of the components due to electrolysis. The motor bearings were shot, but after a thorough cleaning in WD and alcohol the motor was salvaged. The receiver and steering servo were dried and cleaned. Both came back to life after some TLC. The wire drive, prop and drive dog had darkened many shades from their original color. I felt very lucky to get her back with the help of the FAST club Mikey, Mike and Terry.

I only made one pass with the 80 hydro resulting in a stuff due to the rough water. After loosing the N2 mono earlier in the day I figured I better hang up the rigger before I loose two.

Terry finally held the trigger WOT for a quick 109 mph squirt in his 60 hydro. It obviously has a lot more potential, but the drivers nerves are "delicate" as I was told. One day we'll hold him to a full pass.

Mike Ross brought out several boats including his SAW rigger powered by a LS26 and a LS36 motor combo's. The rigger ran very nicely, but we needed more prop options to get close to the records. He also ran a mono during the windy periods and on Sunday brought out his very fast Dragcat which provided some acrobatics for us to close down the weekend with. It has some very serious speed, but it defines the term "knife edge".

Mike Nowicki brought out his beautifully simple wood 28 and 45 hydro's. He was able to make several passes, but struggled with some issues.

Larry came out for a brief run with his Backlash to break in his new ride.

We have lots of pics from the weekend. I expect Terry will post some up in his IW gallery once he gets back home and has a chance to upack and upload.

It sure hasn't been much of a Spring around the Great Lakes and this past weekend was no exception. We had a little flat water Friday night and about 30 minutes Saturday morning and that was it.

As Tyler mentioned we got his little N mono back which was a huge relief, we haven't left one in the lake yet!

Here's a few shots from the weekend:
