I know some people are making starters with Lipo's now and would like a few options and some pricing if it is not too much trouble. My starter is a Sullivan Dynatron with a Speeedmaster handle and switch.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

brian sorgentie made a really great one, I am sure he will see this topic and comment
Haha thanks John, you called that one! Yeah I have a tough time not showing everyone how to do this. It's definitely one of the best upgrades I've made since I got into boating. My starter is set up so I can start inboards and outboards with a mere flick of a reversing switch and best of all- no more giant 12v battery!
Here's a topic I put up when I put mine together with pictures of how I did it and what parts I used.

Borris Mazor sells a smililar setup for inboards and I think I read somewhere that he has built a few like mine with Sullivan parts too.

Basically it comes down to what parts you need and options you want. Buying everything in one shot might scare you...lol.. If you already have a Makita lipo drill its really not that bad because the majority of the cost is in the battery and charger... Just off the top of my head heres some approx. pricing.

Finer edge mfg battery adaptor: $50

Makita battery: $50-100, there are two sizes you can get, the 1.5 or the 3.0 AH pack. Keep an eye out on ebay , sometimes you can find a good deal.

Makita Charger: $40 (ebay)

Starter handle: $60?? I have had mine for 15 years at least... I might be a little off on that lol

Starter: $50-100 ?

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ron, If Steve decides to split the package up I might be interested. My Dynatron and Speedmaster handle are near new.

Thank you for the information Brian- Very helpful.
