OK. I have it back up and running. But it will be limping until a good mobo can be installed. DO NOT BOMB THE SITE WITH THOUSANDS OF HITS!!!!!!! It's not healthy right now.

And no, tigerdirect is NOT gonna have the kind of mobo for this thing.

Bill is determined to not charge as he does not want anyone to have the opinion that he is in this for profit. I have had the conversation with him several times, and recommended some sort of payment and he declines. Bill your a stand up guy but this service costs money. I think clubs using the service should do something. For all the times I have registered if a dime to a quarter per boat was designated to RCracingevents I bet it would pay for hardware and monthly internet server fee's which Bill is paying out of pocket now. Do we have to tie him up and shove money in his pocket? Anyone else have an idea. Dave I'll kick in for the server.

I agree , Bill's efforts for this cause have been amazing since the inception. No offense to the system we used prior to Bills brainchild- but it is apples and oranges- and the other deal had to be purchased to use. I know he is hard headed as hell on this one , as I and the others that have spoken have had long talks with him about it, he doesnt want to budge.

Mic I LOVE the idea of .25 cents or so from every entry - hell .10 - would offset cost and maint for the year and keep it perpetually advancing. I as well as everyone that has used the system would GLADLY pay in addition to the entry fee's Im sure Bill-

PLEASE , let us do this for you , you paid your dues back and owe nothing IMHO my friend

I have spoken with Bill on this subject for over the past 2+ years ad nauseum. I proposed to him a small fee, of $25 or $50, to be paid by the club hosting the race, to use his website. It would help pay some for maintenance, upgrades, etc., and defray some of the wideband monthly costs. I am sure that every club using the website would gladly pay the small fee for the use of the great site. But he would not hear of it and wanted to continue to fund it personally. I hope he will reconsider if enough people speak up NOW and commit to doing so so maybe he will move to do it. How about it guys???

Ok. The website is back up with no more connectivity issues. After a few calls around town, got a Lenovo ThinkServer for a good deal. The site should be pretty snappy now since I will use the old server for backup duties and new server exclusively for serving pages.

I hear what you guys are saying about the money, and maybe one day I might find myself in a situation where I would need to charge a fee. but for now and the foreseeable future I will leave things as they are. I'm not hurting.

Let me know if here are any issues, Configuring the new box took only about half the day and I'm sure I missed a thing or twenty.
