Second day here, our first day of practice. Only half of the guys ran today with some good runs and some bad.

Evan Holborow lost radio after a few laps and the 'Eliminator' stopped in a hurry. This quietened the Aussies for a while as now one likes to see this happen to anyone.

Ian ran the Firefighter around and I think he is finally getting the hang of it.

'Billy Bob' Annabel's twin never missed a beat as usual.

More practice tomorrow, have been praying to the boating gods.

Could someone please ask Ian Inverarity to check his email - I sent him a message today and would like him to get it before the end of the internats if possible.

Thanks and GOOD LUCK GUYS! I bet Evan and Gary H. are sad about the twin - it was a new boat and was showing huge potential when I saw it run just before they left for the US.

Will tell Ian in the morning.

He just has to stay off the buoys (pronounced "boys") and he will be right.

I'm glad to see they taught you how to talk while you we're there! :p

Say "hello" to everybody, and if you hear banjo's start running!

It was great meeting and racing with all of you at the NAMBA Nats. I hope they are treating you guys well down there. Tell Ian that his boat is on it's way. I shipped it to Mark Hopper. He can put whats left of mine in the box and just give it to Gary Pruese. Gary will get it back to me. Hope you guys have a great time. Tell Ian to win or break it trying.

Noo....

Not NO FAILSAFE......Just a Sh** JR Receiver that failed!

Very disappointed in this... seems as though the Aussies have had a few radio failures.... Indeed, team Jones bought 4 synth JR 27 Mhz Receivers from the US prior to leaving... verdict.. 1 DOA, 3 Incredible jittering and extremely short range!

As it was, they were totally unusable! Contacted the sellers, Stormer Hobbies.....reply was.. contact Horizon Hobbies (ie go suck on an egg, we got your money!!). Fortunately the guys at Modelflight came thru at the 11th hour and supplied PCM 27Mhz NON-SYNTHESISED rx's at a reasonable price (but supplied some questionable info on aerial lengths).

So... you think that you buy the best gear (Both HRT and Team Jones are running JR R1 Radios).....and get let down. Shame JR, Shame. Hope you guys read and understand our aggrevation.

Tony

Bummer Tony, I just put an order into them too, no synth receivers for me though.

I know how upset you must be, you being one of the most level headed guys I have ever met in racing. The smoke most really be pouring out!

Good luck with the rest of your racing!

Without a doubt, a major bummer! :(

FWIW- tell Evan it looks like he had a very "interesting" graphic on the nose of his twin, or at least the bottom half of it anyway! :p

I had the exact same problem with JR and Futaba 27 meg stuff I took over for the first NAMBA nats I went over for. Had it all checked out prior to leaving for the US and it was all perfect. Got there and almost lost my X hydro first practice. Had to go back to my 36 meg stuff to get racing as no one had anything that I could get to work in my boat.

EMS Racing International man of misery

And beware of the 2005 Aussie Absolute All (insert some other word that starts with A here) Attack coz I am bleeding I couldnt make this year and now already saving for next year.

You just watch, no one else from over here will come!!! I have been over four times to NAMBA or IMPBA nats and every time there were people interested or even telling me they were coming too and what happens? End up doing it on my own every time. The only year I dont go and the rest of the country is over there racing!!! Do I have bad breath or body odour or something???? :D

Craig, I feel your pain my man. I wanted to go this year but the money wasn't there. I'm going to have to save for next year. I just went down the entries list in their web site and saw a lot of names from last years race that I had the pleasure of meeting.

OB Nut called me last night form a K-mart parking lot in Jackson trying to find directions to the site. They found the host Hotel, the Hampton Inn but they didn't know where the race was at! I got online and told him how to get there. He was only about 4 miles away.

I was really looking forward to going this year but when the opportunity came to get the LASIK surgery done I had to choose. I have no regrets & love life without contacts but I do wish I was there!

I don't know for sure, that was the talk last year. They should be announcing it maybe this week sometime or in the next few weeks. I don't expect to see anything until the IMPBA board meeting which is on Thursday I think.

Hey Tom,

The FF21 ran pretty well in practise. I made a temporary cowl from a plastic bottle. But in the racing it kept stopping at about lap 4 with fuel still left in the tank. In the second race one of the rear sponson skins came off, and I noticed that others were loose, so not wanting any more damage I stopped running the boat. :(

It handled pretty well and seemed to run a pretty good pace. It has been years since I ran 21 hydros, but this is the best and quickest I have run! The boat had very little running before I got it, and I didnt really change anything, so I am sure it could be tweaked to go even better yet.

Nitrocrazed racing: I could almost start racing 21's again..... Nah! :p
