Friends, I had a chance to run my Toro Nero in my hyrdo Saturday...I am impressed! Although the motors is still a ways from being broken in (still requires a wrench to get it off TDC sometimes), it is turning good RPM, is VERY consistant (NEVER quit in the 8 - 10 tanks I ran), and has awesome throttle response. I always run new motors 100% stock (some head shims were removed to get the HC to about .010"). Even as good as it was running I think there may be room for improvement by bumping up the exhaust timing a bit (I haven't had a chance to measure one yet, but I think the main exhaust port is in the high 160*s with the exhaust booster about 10* higher). I don't plan on modding mine anytine in the near future...
There is some neat stuff done to the sleeve that I haven't seen on the other marine motors. The cases are the Plus 21 case with a black finish (looks COOL). The motors come with a 14.5 mm SG style crank with counter weight (I plan to mod the crank and provide a modded flywheel so it will be ready to run out of the box), a seven intake port sleeve, domed/dish piston (even thought the picture shows a flat one), and is set up for standard plugs. Some of the specs from the Nova website:
- Max. power 2,80 Hp
- R.P.M (Max. power) 35.000
- Practical range 6.000 ~ 40.700 R.P.M.
- Bore x stroke 15.88mm x 17.60mm
Price looks like it will be around $300 (depending on the exchange rate when I order more of them).
