I have a nitro pipe with a 1.5 " band. Where do I measure from? 1st line ,2nd line or in the middle.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Example say you want around 31k on the top end with a nitro engine.

1675(wave speed) x 170(timing) ÷ 9" (pipe length at MRP to Piston Face) = 31.64k rpm

Exhaust gas temps, which effect wave speed, can vary greatly in a nitro engine depending on many factors.

A 9" pipe with 170 degrees of exhaust timing could produce as little as 25K and as much as 35K rpm.

Julian's advice is good for your Picco 45 rigger and could go even shorter if you are running 60% nitro or more.

Thanks for all the advice will keep you posted once motors are broke in . probably start longer on 45% to brake in than shorten and move up to 60%.
