David and I discussed having the rudder in the middle or off to the right. I am going to put the rudder off to the right in line with the struts but over far enough so that if the rudder kicks back, it won't hit the prop. I can either build a fancy rudder bracket that overlaps the right strut bracket on the right strut or put a wood wedge on the side of the hull to deflect the air away from the rudder assembly. The latter will allow me to use standard Speedmaster hardware but I'll be using my own rudder blade design.

Stan, How do i contact you & does your phone receive pics? send me personal message.

Has this boat been tested/run????????

Or just drawn up?

Regards Aaron
Can someone answer this please!!!!!!!!

As I would like to start building one!!!!!!!!!

Rod, David....

Regards Aaron
The boat has been tested and run as a single with a stock 84 in it. We beat the 1/4 mile 2 lap with it but not by a 1/4mph so we couldn't claim the record. We added about 1" to the width for the twin 45. The boat handles the higher speeds really well. it has 4degrees aoa and 2 degrees downforce on top of the sponsons. the nose of the tub was tested by both Truex and myself. I can send you the motor mount details if you want to build one. The only thing we are not completely sure about is the affect of 2 props in the corner. Martin suggested if turning is an issue then throttle down the inboard engine in the corners. Would probably have to do it with mechanical linkages unless u know of a radio that you can separate throttle channels. Guess I could pull out the old stick radio for testing.

I have just completed the drawings for a new twin 90/101 with the skiis on the outside of the tub. They look like rear sponsons. The motors are rotated 5 degrees outboard to help with the driveline. It has not been tested.

David,

So the drive shafts still run out thru the rear skis that are mounted on the outside of the tub? Interesting! What is the idea of that? Why space out the struts and rear skis on the twins? Cool stuff!

I saved the drawing in .BMP format. i think most can open. THIS IS JUST A CONCEPT WOULD LIKE TO HEAR ALL CRITICS GOOD OR BAD.

Interesting.

Are you trying to stop prop walk or just keeping the tub narrow?

David,

You may want to wait until you get some "Lake time" feed back on the twin 45 before you get too far with your second twin. May save you from fixing too many projects.

Im building several tubs for fe and twin 45's and 90/101's if someone wants one pm me.

Andy I pmed you hope you recieved it.

So I cut the tub and some other parts out with the laser. I added toy tabs to aid with assembly and reduce the need of some doublers for support. My concerns are there is no room for adjustment of front sponsons, the tub is supper long and supper narrow. I put the holes in for the motor mounts as shown but the mounts are so unique I am wondering if people are going to stick with and use the setup as drawn on the plan. Then there is the issue with the rudder. I think it will require mounting to side of tub I believe like the old mongoose. I guess it will all need some lake time. My biggest challenge is cutting through the 3/16 material. I have a 100 watt laser it requires multiple light passes for a square cut. Multiple passes equals more char, but it it easily sandable to clean up. I have the tub pieced together and I will post some pictures soon.

simple fix make the tub wider to accommodate the rudder and if the tub is too long i would make it shorter.

The point is, a lot of people have contacted me to lasercut them one of these things and I want to first post some pictures so that they know what they will be receiving. I think the dimensions will be easier to conceptualize with a picture rather than a drawing.

Kevin my skill table scroll saw cut right through it :D . Its variable speed, so it slows down to almost nothing . Did the holes with a center punch and drill press. I too think mounting the rudder on the side of the tub is the only way or a long center mounted one. Toy tabs will make it alot easier to assemble but I wanted to keep the doublers in the transom area for strength. I didnt see the weight, of a couple of doublers as a big deal.
