:)You guys better hurry up and enter for Charleston !!!!!!! Boat looks wicked ..... :) :) :)

Tom is telling you EXACTLY right. We hit the 225 limit this weekend and will be filling in heats that are not full. Then the classes will be closed. If you have not mailed yours yet, ....????? I know some entries are already in the mail and expected in the next couple of days. Nothing is promised or guaranteed. This race sold out in 18 days. I would love to see this and Rod's new 40 running here in Charleston.

John,

I Pm'ed Rod to light the fire under Marty, and Norm will hammer 'em too.

How much fuel you got in there Marty?

The prop looks to be a 1516 or so?

Looks darn good

Grim
I just put a prop on that looked good. I ran one of these some time ago and it went 75 on my old boat. Wouldn't stay hooked up in race water though. I run 1450's and H7's.

Same fuel load as my old boat 8.75 oz which allows me to start right away on pit time.

Looks great Marty! What are the tub sides made out of? Can you explain the construction a little? I'm trying to understand what it takes to get the weight so low.

Hello Marty

The boat looks good, I hope it runs as you like, please keep us posted on the progress.

Thanks

Jorgen

I used a carbon skin on the tub sides (both) over 1/8" Klegicel. The sponsons are a big part of the weight savings since no blocks are needed with Klegicel. All the bulkheads are also Klegicel with carbon over.

I saved weight everywhere I could making things out of Delrin and using aluminum screws. Partial cowling and everything else as light weight as possible.

I think that the engine with my Water Cooled Glow Plug Water Jacket is the heaviest part of the boat. Maybe a few ounces savings available there too.

Are the Cougar 21 an Intrepid 21 without the rear sponsons and a rear senter ski mounted - looks kinda like ?

I have been waiting for that one....Kind of surprised that it didn't happen sooner

I have a "little experience" with center ski's. I built a couple thousand Crapshooters all with center ski's. Norris Sparks and I have been experimenting with a return to the concept for a while now and like what we have seen. You will notice that there is quite a bit of difference in the ski config on my boat and the recent new boat to hit the hobby.

My ski is at the same attack angle as the rear sponsons were on my Intrepid and the width is the same on the center ski as the combined width of the rear sponsons that were used in the past.

the boat looks great marty..3lb 3oz is a very good weight with cmb, both of my 21s are the same weight as yours but with novarossi..i like your front sponsons too, oh and your flat ski and wide stance B)

the black hardware is nice, ive been looking for a place to have annodizing done.

with your testing with the center ski on your other boat, did you have the strut depth set like this one?

The lightest that I have ever built a .21 hydro. Previously 3lbs 12oz was the lightest that I had ever been able to do. The boat MIGHT be too light. We will see. Easy to add weight, but VERY difficult to remove it.

Bill:

Yes, I bet you know the color since you painted it... Kind of "School Bus Yellow" with Black Anodized hardware. I missed a few pieces and pipe so I have to take another basket full of parts to the Anodizer. Found some really cool red anodized alum socket head cap screws to mount the hardware.

This had been sort of a "throwback" for me in design, to the old Crapshooter days.
Did you build it for SAW or is it rugged enough to take a season of heat racing?

just curious

No, I built it for heat racing. We will see if it lasts....

Rod Hendricks built a 45 boat which he will run in Charleston and I am finishing up a 67 boat also. Both will be ready for Charleston and MAYBE Hobart.
