Finished rigging my new Cougar 21 today. Total weight with everyting came in at 3lb 3oz. Will post some pictures tomorrow.
Terry:If it looks anything like this Cougar, I want one!
Yup, I'm sure she'll be a natural beauty, just like this one!Terry:If it looks anything like this Cougar, I want one!
One of the ways that I saved weight was to "skimp on the silicone". Guess there is not that much similarity... B)
Did you build it for SAW or is it rugged enough to take a season of heat racing? The lightest that I have ever built a .21 hydro. Previously 3lbs 12oz was the lightest that I had ever been able to do. The boat MIGHT be too light. We will see. Easy to add weight, but VERY difficult to remove it.
Bill:
Yes, I bet you know the color since you painted it... Kind of "School Bus Yellow" with Black Anodized hardware. I missed a few pieces and pipe so I have to take another basket full of parts to the Anodizer. Found some really cool red anodized alum socket head cap screws to mount the hardware.
This had been sort of a "throwback" for me in design, to the old Crapshooter days.
Marty, you running it at Charleston in Oct. B)The lightest that I have ever built a .21 hydro. Previously 3lbs 12oz was the lightest that I had ever been able to do. The boat MIGHT be too light. We will see. Easy to add weight, but VERY difficult to remove it.

No, I built it for heat racing. We will see if it lasts....
Rod Hendricks built a 45 boat which he will run in Charleston and I am finishing up a 67 boat also. Both will be ready for Charleston and MAYBE Hobart.
