Are you looking for something like this?

McDaniels used to make a Ni Start with a 'T' rod going through the tube so you could tighten plug.
I bought 3-4 of them back in the 80's but haven't seen them in years.
It's not difficult to convert newer McDaniel to the 'T' rod setup.
