I picked up a box of misc. R/C stuff at a garage sale and in it were some little baggies of powder. Don't have a clue as to what they are for.....

Label says Fox Manufacturing Co.

Some are "Lustrox"....part # 90811

Some are "Garnet"....part # 90812

Any guesses?

Dude,

That would be abrasive lapping compound. You can mix it with oil to form lapping paste.

Shame they don’t give you the Um size……sounds like trash without the size.

Definitely not good for the sinuses ;D

Ron may have hit the nail on the head.

It may not have size on it, if it's used for rough then fine polishing stones.

Did a search on Google and this is the only thing I found that related to R/C...it's from a discussion group...

"I remember one Nats around about 1978 and a new version

extremely tight Fox engine getting a quick break-in by Mike Talman

squirting a fuel syringe with fuel/"Lustrox" mixture directly into the

venturi until the engine came up to speed. It worked but Mike was not

worried about ruining the engine as Duke had a bunch of them in reserve."

when i worked for an aussie engine rebuild company they had garnet powder for the honing of the " engine " block. this sounds like it is the same thing but a lot finer for the use in the rc engines.

only worried if the powder has been tampered with you never know if it is just chalk or something else............sniff sniff ??? ??? ;D :p :-[ :-[

lol lol lol

Send it to Rod and if the Feds follow the Mailman to his house then we know what it might be! ;D ;D
