Mike,

I guess you could make a "cover" for it and glue it to the hull. It would mean another mold tho....

Mike,

The carb/kevlar looks really nice too, I have seen pics of types with blue kevlar that look really good! But it is not cheap for true bi-directional weave? The kevlar is much cheaper!

Tim,

I know there are a few boats in your club with no rear sponsons but they have wide tubs at the back to aid with floatation and lift off launch! I agree that the prop would probably provide enough lift when on plane, I am just worried about getting there. :- But a flat (or maybe vee) bottomed cover for the stuffing tube could be a rear sponson. ;D

Terry was one of our clubs record trials.... real nice guy!

his tubs are made from a foam core then he put the CF over the foam and put it in the vac bag. then the foam was melted out afterwards.

those sponsons must be new..... he had the single rear sponson before

Tom,

Wow, that is a pretty neat job for an external moulding! That would have to be very hard to get a neat finish.

Thinking back to the earlier pics of his boats, I remember single rear sponsons too.

Looking sweet!!!! Is that a 1-2-3 block in front of the engine? ??? I would assume that you are using that to gage the fuel tank placement. Those sponsons look pretty conventional compared to the hull, but I think it looks good. Almost done by the looks.

Wow Mike.

You make it look so easy!

Do you think that type of tub would run well 90 size?

Id like to see how the strut is adjusted please.

Thanks

Mike

Wade,

The 123 block is for weight to hold the hull in the jig.

I went with the same sponsons as the last .12 they were small light and worked good. All the other ideas only added weight.

Mike,

I don't think this hull would work for a 90 size. .12's don't have any weight at the transom and will launch easy. A 90 needs a little more width at the transom.

The strut gets pinched between the two pieces of CF glued inside the hull with a bolt and nut, the strut will slide up and down normally.

It loooks like the rudder will be mounted to the same bolt that holds the strut.

Ian,

This boat is based off the last one in size and set up.

I found that a very thin .020 in. thick cut off disk cuts the kevlar really clean. They worked really good on the hatches.

That makes sence with the 1-2-3 block. How long before it its the water do you think?

I am rebuilding a Mitsubishi Montero motor for a friend. I will be busy for a couple of weeks. I do have a rule that I do something on the boat every day.

I got the Kev/foam bulk heads and the CF plate motor mount done.

I still have a ways to go.

that looks sweet. How do you have the engine mounted? Do you have it mounted to that CF plate somehow?
