Guys, what style head performs better on a stock, non SS K&B 3.5 outboard, Air or Water cooled? This motor will be on a tunnel, so it should get plenty of air. I'm rebuilding one now & it's almost the same price for parts. Any thoughts?

Both work equally I run air cooled a friend runs water. We both run same speed. Its the needle that makes a difference I throw in richer and my motor leans out more.

I have an K&B SX black head and it runs good but I prefer the gold head it seems to have a bit more HP and RPM

i prefer water cooled. easier to maintain consistent motor /head temps. needle & performance are MUCH more predictable & reliable, imho. the air cooled head has turbo cuts stock, the water cooled (all versions) do not. i feel they give a slight advantage in top end, & they are easy to add to a water cooled head. i have gone as far as to cut air cooled heads down to water cooled head buttons!!
