Andrew since your boat is handling well which rudder assembly are you using? Mark B. said the SM Mini worked for him. I know that Mark is experienced and I am not doubting his advice, but my son Mike still has reservations about the mini. Since the boat will be his I am still searching but leaning towards using the mini. CMDI seems to be the rudder of choice but I have been unsuccessful in getting a hold of them. Jerry

Hi Jerry

I'm using the .21 zipp's rudder and non-fixed strut. This is what is working for me.Maybe just luck,I had it around and tried it and it works very well for me.The .45 I made from the prints and narrowed the hull a hair and I'm sure I'm alittle heavier than most.I'm running a long Dave P. turn fin, I'm also running the H sponsons. If this helps thats good, but I'm no pro at boat racing by any means.Still very green but like to mess with these things. Also when the gps run was done I had the G201 taped to the hull up front over the fuel tank.Just alittle nose heavy.Don't seam like the guy's in D-11 will have a class for these this year,so I have plenty of time to mess with it.

Hey Jerry:

I use the Speedmaster mini on my 40 boat, works great but would bend occasionally, ended up making one from 7075.

Try it, I'm sure you'll like it! :)

Thanks for info Terry. We have decided to use the ZIPP 21 strut and the Speedmaster Mini Rudder on the JAE 45. Mike was concerned about the bending of the Mini Rudder on the JAE 45. We have experienced more loading on the rudder and skid fin on our JAE 21 then we have experienced on our own designs.I am in the process of building four of the JAE45's. One for Mike, two for club members and one to sell. See you at the races!!!!!

Might not be a problem if they're nice and light.

Come up to London June 18, 19th for our "Northern Lights Open" and we'll have some fun! :D

Hey Terry, come on down for our spring race at our new pond in Burton MI. Great site with easy access off of I69 from Port Huron. Mike and Rob will probably still have all the old stuff to race as my building time has slowed down in my younger years!!!!!!

Been thinking about that one, or maybe Spencer Park, I get so busy Spring and Fall with the SAW stuff at Flint...

Jerry,

Did you get the BB Hardware LW 21 rudder that I sent you?

I think that will be perfect.

Thanks,

Mark Sholund
