After spending a great time building this kit I'm ready to test it...let see how it will perfom with the bigblock.

Looks good Gil! What I can see. Hope you rienforced that turn fin sponson good. On my 67 Jae and my 45 build that was the weakest part of my construction. Mine is heavily rienforced now and working well. You are a little south. So far south its summer where you are ! Do you have alot of guys to run with?

Gil, great web site, great detail on the build! Anyone building a JAE rigger needs to check it out. I downloaded the plans and started building. This would have helped alot. Where did you get the strut? Is it Zipp kit for a 1\4 shaft? Rick

Thanks Rick yes it is a Zipp strut.for 1/4 flexshaft. Tested the boat yesterday and the mod in the fin worked great(cut the lower 1 inch). Props-1475 modded push the boat well but needs more cup.V967 cup 6,0 produced some hoops in turns but is faster .1667 cup 6,6 seems also good for heat racing...well more tests must be taken but what I can attest for now that is a great kit boat with great handling and speed(low 80's on gps ) and has lot of potential to dominate the F class......will post the video asap.My only advise for the building as Rick mentioned is take a special care with the sponsons where I drilled and glued a piece of hard steel transfixing the aluminium plugs to avoid their possible rotation.I would like to thanks the Zipp folks for their efforts to keep the modelling spirit alive!

We have built two hulls. We are using one as a test boat. We are getting "there". Testing different ramps with different AOA. Also working with different sponsons, width and dihedral. A work still in progress. Now running consistent 80-81mph on the timing lights. Running 1667, 6.8 with tip pitch about 7.2. 101 running 60% nitro. Doc

Doc the Jae I build is the gas version equipped with the 1,0 mod motor..The only change I did in the building was reinforce the transon with 1/8 thick carbon fiber sheet, pinned all four aluminium plugs after had one loose in the left sponson probably due to a poor gluying and reduced the turnfin lenght in 1 inch.

Our last tests with the 1667 cup 6,9 showed astonishging potencial with +84,3mph burning 35% nitro..enough for this bigblock in my opinion...seems that the 90 mph barrier can be reach pretty soon.

Mark your suggested prop didn't work with our engine.....boat needs too much straight to lean but the 6717/3 with some little work(diam at 65mm) pushed the boat effortlessly with good top speed...unfortunetely no gps data with this prop.1475 is another good option with the right mods.

are the 90/101 sponsons the same size as the gas sponsons?
No...the 90-101 sponsons are narrower......
awesome...anyone selling kits for them, or just gotta print the plans and cut everything? (i got the plans..but nowhere to take em to get blown up)
will,

zippkits has the gas kit..
Yeah, but if the 90/101 sponsons are narrower, they would work better for my application, not using the boat for ovals..and Zippkits doesnt offer kits for those sponsons, just the gas ones (will be adapting them to a different tub)

will,

all you would have to do is cut the foam narrower when you build the sponsons.

Ok. Is the width the only difference between them? I still think ill end up having to find somewhere that can print the 90/101 plans i have and cut my own pieces, as the boom tube spacing for my tub is different and dont wanna have unwanted holes to fill.

Go to Kinkos Printing....they can print it to the size you need or you can. On the Gas kit I would cut down the sponson width & the hull width for the 90 or 101 engine. :)
