I'm a bit biased, but my answer is The Carolina Showdown hosted by the Piedmont Triad Prop Twisters in Greensboro, NC. My reason is quite simple, Mudbug and everyone else kept things moving and it was the ONLY race I attended where we got in the scheduled 4 rounds of racing.

All the other races I attended in D12 and the Charleston race were also good, just got to do a bit more racing in Greensboro.

Atlanta It was OUT OF TOWN and a great race

I would have to say the Internats in Evansville. Not only did Mike Z. and District 4 and friends put on one heck of an event, it was run smoothly and efficiently and done early every day, which for me was the best part because during the racing I do not have the time to socialize because of filming. Hands down my most favorite event I have attended since becoming addicted 2 years ago, and shooting the crap with everyone until 9 or 10 pm every night, doesn't get any better than that, you can learn so much from everyone at these events and I took full advantage of it! ! !

Thanks Mike Z., Russ, Greg H, Mikey for the cajun bullet., Stu, Bruce, John, Mike C., and all the others that shared your knowledge. Yall support and promote this hobby the way it should be!!!

Doug

June evansville race for sure a lot of boat, a lot of very skilled racers, and a lot of fun!

Internats 08 for sure.. I would do that race again in a heart beat..

The people that were there playing toy boats was the best I have seen together at one time in a long time. Quality boats and Quality people.

I like lots of racing.. the internats gives you that one for sure.

Internats 08 for me..

2008 Evansville Internats - Great race, very well run and CD'd, lots of old friends. Mix that in with my favorite race site, it was a fantastic week. The only thing that would have made it better was if my regular pit partner had been able to attend.. TJ

I rank the races I attend based on the level of competition found in the categories that I race. I must say that the Atlanta Spring Nats is always "Intense" and demands the most of all competitors. Fall Nationals in Charleston was great this year. I am glad the CMB has started a fall national race. Though I did not attend in 08 I will go back to Evansville for the June 09 race it is one of my favorite sites. Hopefully the "noise nonsense issue" has been settled and the Nats will become the premier event in the IMPBA circuit again. I have not fully transition to the "Dark Side" but I understand that the "Voo Doo Race" is a great event. The future looks good, I have not seen a DB Meter in a long time B) .

My plans for 09 are:

Atlanta Spring Nats

Huntsville "Heart of Dixie Race" in May

Evansville in June

Jackson TN

Fall Nationals Charleston

i agree with you, chuck. the showdown was a good event, & the only one where all 4 rounds were run. i'm glad someone else spoke up, as i was kinda upset that so many races got cut short this season, for whatever reason. can't fault anyone for the weather, but geez, 4 rounds at more than 1 race would be nice in '09. we got lucky at the showdown, i seem to remember some wet trophies & racers sunday afternoon.

I would Agree Atlanta Spring Nats in April is always HARD CORE Racing, Several Experienced Boaters & Good Equipment that are pushing Hard to run up front in all classes. Always Enjoy boating with the Fl boaters @ that one. FL gets to start race earlier than we do by April & Normally bring a lot of Good running boats to Atlanta. The Evansville June race is a Must. Great people, Fast Competition & Hard Racing. 2 - 6` traveling awards heaviely contested for in Twin Hydro & F mono @ Evansville June event.... Ralph & I went over to the Charleston Race to help them get the 1st Fall Nats race under their Belt, The Weather would not let up all weekend.. But they do have A Beautiful Private lake & race site to race on for years to come. It was a Long trip thru 4 states & 1700 miles round trip for me. But we did HAVE SOME FUN..... The Evansville fall race is also a great event to attend.... Looks like the Huntsville Club is Making a Come back in 2009 with the Heart of Dixie Race in May & Tom Moore is already working on the Jax Tn Spring event in June. Good Luck to all of the Clubs planning races in 2009, Soon the water will be Flying & the Smell of THICK NITRO in the Pines of Georiga.......

As a tunnel racer hands down Charleston Worlds simply for the competition. (site second to none aso) Best over all race 08 would be the Internats at Evansville. Great site, course and pit area. Mike and all the D-4 crew put on a racers race.

Every race in 08 was a good race, but here's a breakdown. Atlanta, great racing, good weather but a 1700 mile round trip drive by myself. :( June Delmarva, great racing, short drive, weather, it was hotter than hell. Delmarva, Gas Clash, in the top 10. Great racing, short drive, perfect weather and good eats. :D ODMBA, great racing, great weather, long drive for only three rounds. <_< .Baltimore, Greenbrier Race, great racing, short drive, weather so,so. But the hill is a killer on the knees. :( Charleston Fall race, got a ride down :D Great racing, weather sucked :( Made some great new friends. :D I don't think theres ever been a race, that I said I wished I didn't go. Racing aside, hanging with the gang is always worth it. B) B) Is it April yet.

Jose I have to agree the Db deal was a learning curve. The 1st we were checked in 2004 @ a SGRA race we were blowing 106. Before the Race was over we were in the upper 90`s, After a few more weeks & a few parts changes Most everyone was in the lower 90`s. I Attended several events in 2008 & seen No problems with Noise. I do not recall a single boat that was out of range with the others racing. Time to get the PRO MO back in full swing to promote racing & Having a great time @ the events. A few clubs are already making the agenda for 2009 So the rest of us can plan to attend the event.

Got to Evansville this year for the first time. Once in May and again in July for the Nats. I enjoyed both events but found the Nats to be poorly attended.

For me the best event (London Northern Nats) is right in my backyard, for several reasons. 1.) I always have a few friends stay at the house and thoroughly enjoy the company. 2.) 15 minutes from the house. 3.) real good competition from all accross the country. 4.) Perfect site, close to all accomodations, restaurants, malls etc. 5.) The race is run by the Hallam's who always put on a great show at all their events.

This really is an event to mark on your calandar. And don't be afraid of the border. It really isn't a big deal. I cross 8-10 times a year without hassle.

I had fun at alot of races in 08 but I think my favorite was the Madison race on the 4th. small course and small venue but you get to race on one day, camp on the river and watch the big boys race on the next day. Somewhere in between you can see the sites, drink a little and enjoy the fireworks. What could be better?

I enjoyed Atlanta Spring Nats, and Charleston Fall Nats. Great racers and longtime friends. I'll do those again next year.

I want to add E'ville in June. Maybe Indy Masters if Qualifying returns. I'll need a driving partner for both of those. The 1100 miles one way are tough driving alone!

I will also hit more D3 Namba sites now that nitro hydros seem to have increased participation. I love that Brandon race site, and I strongly suggest some snowbirds try to check it out.
