The weather in the park is the strangest I've seen, any where I race. Sunshine at lake, pouring in town. Hail, wind, rain at lake, towns dry.  Hope for the best and let's go racings boys. ;) B) B)

I'm ready. Trailer's packed and hooked up to the van. The last two boats are on the charger, will put them in the van in the morning. Just have to pack some (warm, dry) clothes and I'm ready to roll.

chuck, real hard to call. with the terrain up here, it all depends if the clouds/storm cell has enough "omph" the get over the mountain or just follow the next valley. kinda like what ray was talking about. you'll notice on your drive up, that it's not mountain here, mountain there. more like long ridges, that funnel weather, depending on the strength of the front. you coming up I-81? if so, look left just about martinsburg, wv. i'm on the other side of those mountains, about 20 miles west. can't race this weekend, moving time, but i'll be there sat. am, to p/u my fuel from carl. coulda just let you hold on to it  .

Whoever is doing that raindance.... STOP Forecast calls for wind and rain friday am tapering off around the afternoon . Saturday looks ok for the Hagerstown area but the guys coming from the East are gonna see alot of rain along the way.

charles, ch. 9 is calling for rain most all fri., tapering off sat am - still. not trying to disagree, just repeating what the weatherman said. different channel, different forecast  ......... sun. looks good. wind is going to be the issue. they're calling it a nor'easter. say it isn't a tropical storm, but by wind alone, it could qualify :( . i'll try to catch the farm report on noaa weather radio in the am, that's usually fairly accurate, & more localized.

The forecasts I see show rain all day Friday, tapering off Saturday morning, but occasional rain the rest of Saturday through mid-Sunday afternoon. We've been feeling the effects of this storm since yesterday afternoon and it's supposed to continue here for another 24-48 hours.

In order to get to this race I need to invest 15+ hours of driving and close to $150 in gas. I'm not complaining, this is the cost of competing at the district level. I'm just making that observation because if it's going to be a washout I'd like to know before I spend the money/time rather than after. I'm also trying to figure out if the conditions will even allow running on Friday morning or afternoon, because if they're not going to, there's no reason for me to head up there tonight. I can wait until tomorrow morning or afternoon and save one night's hotel cost, some vacation, and get some more stuff done at home rather than standing around in the rain.

Friday looks like it is pretty much going to be a bust. Even if it doesn't rain all day the 15-20mph winds (w/ higher gusts) will most likely render that pond unusable. Unless there is a last minute dramatic change in the forecast, I plan to get there sometime tomorrow mid morning, drop the trailer, stake down just the tent frame & leave to go spend some time with my parents down in northern Virginia.

Chuck i agree with Don the winds are gonna be the issue up there and with that lake being between two mountains, it can be strong coming from the bouy 1 towards the closed end of the lake. Just bring the raingear and forgo open water is my advise. I will be there checking guys in and watching the diehards try their luck with mother nature.

since this is chuck's first race at greenbriar, he'll have to learn about the hole between bouys 2 & 3  ! with the weather & wind, that boat eater should be hungry  .

One year it got so bad the points were awarded for who got the farthest in a heat of 20 o/b tunnel. Sean Glidden got 1st place points for that heat, he made just past buoy #3. :p

Got it, be careful on the left side turns. Meanwhile, the weather is going downhill:

Hats off to the Baltimore club, did a great job setting up and running the race this weekend. Mother nature cooperated for the most part, few sprinkles here and there. Rained hard mostly at night. Had a blast. Congrats Tim. ;) Great job guys and gals. B) B)

Thanks to all from the Balitimore club for putting on a great event. I think that this has been a very good year for District 12 and I and both glad and proud to run boats with such a great bunch of people. I am not going to list names but there was a lot of work involved in setting up and breaking down this race as well as running the race and all did a great job and it was very much appreciated.

Thanks Guys!!!!!
