My Cal Craft developed a hook in the hull. Not much but enough to make it run wetter than I would like.

From the repair in the front and sitting on the stand it has about 3/32 hook right in the middle.

Can I get it out and if so how.

David, I have not had this problem myself but I think bondo, microbaloons and a good straight edge would take care of it.

Call it a Seaducer and your good to go-

Your gonna chase em this year anyway ;)

Andy
BRRRRRR... and I thought it was just the weather makin' it cold.............You'll be fine David, as long as you reattach the pressure line after fueling it. Just don't let Andy launch your boat.

Must be one of those German boats, you know, a Hookenfu@#er.

Thats why I got the cal craft so I didn't have the hook to slow me down. I guess will be on a level playing field now Andy

If you are going to the Winter Nat's it better be fast 30' corners and 400'+ straits. :p Going to be a drag race

Go big or go home B)

David

The hook is gone.

Spent a week flashing and sanding. Now it's level again. Should have got a new hull but this one holds a soft spot in my heart. It's flatter than when it was new.

Ain't no Hookenf@#er any more :p

Had it out to day. ITS BACK and with a vengeance, Pulling a X455/3 so hard twisted the new fine wire flex cable. Going back to the coarse wire. Will try bigger props next week ABC 2314/3 chopper reworked that one of the guys in the club gave me to try and a AB CNC 5082/3A.

Hold on to your hats it going to be a fast Winter Nats.

David

Iv been thinking about testing a .078" wire drive setup on a 45 rigger, id imagine your mono could be setup the same, got any closeup pics of your strut/motor mount area? with angles from the boats center line?

What kind of flex shaft are you twisting with a 45 motor ???? How much gap you got between the motor and the brass ?? Curious .
The new shafts I got at the Dover, race 2 of them 3/16 were both fine strand cables. Both of them came undone One spit one strand and the other broke many. The distance is the same 1" to the tube that I have bin using all along. The old cable has bigger and less strands then the new ones.

The cables failed when the prop cam out of the water and unloaded then got a bite on reentry. The last time bound up in the tube and spun in the coupler. The boat reved and went no where. Going to try the old shaft next time out. Just changed it cause of the time on it.

The eng is pulling real hard. The boat use to boog in the corners before now it just pulls right threw. The power is defiantly up with the new mod. Logged 30000+ RPM when it let go.

Going bigger next time out. :D

Damm ..never seen that even on riggers that are in and out with more load .. WOW !
This Cal Craft is a little heaver than a rigger. Was in the corner both times pulling hard 60MPH when it happend. The wind was 10 to 15MPH last weekend and white caps on the pond. My 21 rigger disappeared in the waves and reaper in the air many times and kept on gettin it. Just wish it was faster than 68MPH. Hope the strut fix dose the trick.

See you at the Winter Nats.

try soldering the end where it goes in the collet before cutting it to size this will stop any unsprung wires happening when cut and keeps all wires proportional to each other only one wire strand longer and the shaft is weaker remeber measure shaft solder and cut through the solder ACE B)

Good advise, and one other thing that helps ,is chamfer end of cable slightly.

Well I was chasing the pack of seaducers to day. That is to put them a lap down

Slowed down so I didn't have to get in the middle of them fighting for the scraps.

David,

So how did the 21 hydro do in the first round?

I heard that your 45 mono is pretty quick.

I was coming down to the race, but I could not get a

flight in until 2 PM. How is Tom Foley doing?

Have Fun,

Mark Sholund

Well i crashed it on Thursday in open water. The ruder servo broke. Don't clean cheep servos with brake clean  and ripped a sponson off. Went home and put new tubs on but the sponson has some issues. could not get a launch last three rounds. Got one more tomorrow going to use a smaller prop and see what happens.

Tom pitted for me at open water and was impressed with the boat real fast and handled real good. Time to start all over again. Got about 50 runs on the P/S no pinch left can't keep my finger of the switch. That third channel can be your worst enemy or your best friend.
