We would like your imput with respect to the date of the Huntsville May race. It will be an all class race Nitro and Gas. Huntsville is a premiere race site. Several InterNats have been held at the site. It is located in the center of IMPBA country. It has a great lake, launching area and drivers stand. There is blacktop parking area and grass to set up on. It has INDOOR AIRCONDITIONED TOILETS.

We are planning on a large race with significant support. We would like your input on the dates, choosing between the weekend before Memorial Day vs. Memorial Day weekend.

The race flyer will be out after the first of the year. Doc

I vote One entire weekend before Memorial day. This would put you about 1 month behind Atlanta Spring nats. & 3-4 weeks in front of the Evansville June race. jw

Doc..............Before the Holiday. THE KEO :D :D :D Will not let me PLAY when it is HER TIME to PARTY!!! <_< <_< <_<

Oh.............I agree with WHAT HE SAID!!!!

Doc did not get his poll running right I see. But talk to him last night and what we are seeing it looks like we need to go the weekend before.

hey mark,we got to take it easy on these docs. i;ve worked for them

20+ yrs.they REALLY need a break.just kidding doc. put me down for

the weekend before memorial weekend.first two were over, hey thats

real easy. :p :D

Weekend of the 16th and 17th would be good. Might catch more people than you would on Memorial Day weekend seeing as how people sometimes get caught up in the whole holiday get together deals. Just a thought....

would this race be using LS/XLS classes or LSG 23-30 for gas?
This will be the forming of the Heart of Dixie Racers. It will be made up of the northern members of District 5 or anyone that wants to join the group. There are so few of us all over the northern part of the District that we desided that we would all work together. The race will be the rebirth of the Heart of Dixie Classic that was first started by the Birmingham Model Boaters. Since there is only one Birmingham Boater left who is Doc Turner, he wanted to bring the race name back to birth.

The Heart of Dixie Classic was as big a race as Atlanta was in the 80's. The race was always two weeks before Atlanta and everyone that showed up in Birmingham was in Atlanta the following two weeks later. In those days we went to New Orleans the third weekend of March, then in two weeks to Birmingham, and then to Atlanta two weeks later.

So it looks like I have seen enough of what the racers want and with that setted. We will have the,

Heart of Dixie Classic

Huntsville Alabama

The classes will be from A to Gas and will take 5 boats to make a class of all boat types. The limit will be 300 boats. Entry will be posted in a couple of weeks. So start making your plans for one month after Hot Altanta to do again on one of the best lake sites in the country, Huntsville Alabama.

I propose that it should be LSG classes and that they should run Thunderboats etc. etc.

I'm with you and going on what you said. We will run it all and let the entries drive the event.
Any way to get the GENE TAYLOR Twin traveling award back to Huntsville? So we can compete for it again? Bill & John put a lot into this award getting it redone. Shame its not currently contested for. One of the first Boaters I met when getting started was Gene Taylor @ his last Huntsville nats event in 98.

I think we may be able to put that off. I need my name on there some more.

Well really you have to make up your mind before so.... it will either be standard IMPBA rules of LS27 & XLS27 or just LSG 23-30 letting all gas boats of the same class but different 'class' of engine to run together. Saying you will "run them all" doesnt give me much confidence that I will be able to drive over there, and be able to race if i dont know if ill be running with all the gas riggers, or only XLS class riggers (because if you do it LS & XLS, and im the only XLS class rigger to show up im sitting around all weekend...)
