I'm glad you made all those recommendations John. It never fails to amaze me that when putting together a boat, the weight of hardware and boat balance are rarely taken into account. Must be my background in Sport 40 and Scale hydros talking If this were my boat, I would do the following:
1) Replace that heavy dual rudder with a single rudder with integrated water pick up
2) Loose the clutch and water pump since they are normally unneeded extra weight and just more to wear out
3) Make sure there is a high torque servo moving the rudder with the servo PULLING the rudder during right hand turns
4) Verify the boat is balanced into the proper range for best performance
