I agree with you sirI think having the lightest boat can be over-rated.
My .12 is more than 4 lbs and it will do 60. It is extremely competitive. Won NAMBA 8 High points in 2012 by several thousands of points.
My .21 weighed in at over 6.5 lbs and was 37" long. (This boat is my Avatar) and Won NAMBA 8 High points in 2012 as well.
The .12 I'm building now has a tub that is 27" with a total hardware included length of 30". I believe it will do even better.
I guess lighter may be better if you plan on running solo. If you want to win races consistently, lighter is not the key.
BTW it is so cool to see people building from scratch. Looking good HDR.

Im just starting lite on this rigger then add weight an stuff up as needed its harder to remove weight easyer to add.
